***2026-27 Mens College Basketball Thread***

Owen Freeman played 5 minutes tonight against Butler in a tight game. He has really fallen off a cliff since transferring from Iowa. I imagine he’s back in the portal after this season. He would probably be good with Underwood at Illinois where they play all offense and no defense like Fran. And I believe he’s from Illinois as well.
How much is this is Freeman not being good and how much the injury recovery?

I honestly don’t know. Genuinely asking anyone here that does

Fell off a cliff or just wasn't very good to begin with?

Creighton not getting great ROI for their rumored $1.8 million NIL investment in him.

You posted this in April:

It was in 2022.
Didnt we just lose Dishon for a bag?

My point is you get very uptight about any discussion of Iowa and Drake and keep bringing up how people are basically insufferable about them. My man, you said you were permanently done. Maybe have some perspective and relax a little?
We didn't "lose" Dishon.

I was always intrigued about what coach Green and TJ could do with him. He had potential. He just needed a coach to mold that into an all around player. Cause I don’t know if he didn’t want to play defense or just didn’t know how to play defense.

He is from Moline, Illinois. Underwood has really gone after foreign players, 6 on their current roster.

He reportedly had a meniscus tear, with surgery around July/August 2025 (so ~ five months ago). Depending on what was torn and what was done exactly in the surgery, it can be a very long recovery for full return-to-play, although 5+ months is certainly on the longer end.

From an ESPN article on the state of college basketball:
" ... current NBA player Trentyn Flowers is pursuing college eligibility."

He is on a 2-way contract with the Bulls and has appeared in 2 NBA games. Crazy.

Allegedly he dealt with a couple infections after the surgery. I think this is just a lost year for the kid and he'll pop up somewhere else next year and be better.

He's certainly talented enough to play at a high level.

Blum said on a pod post 2024 season that Dishon could/would command $1 mil.
TJ/Blum didn't see the value of that much money for him, so we lost him.

Are we a better team now? Absolutely. But it seemed like the plan was to chase Cluff first, then go after Buchanon if that didn't work out.
