Moberly staying is awesome. Hope Manske does as well. Major Cantrell has looked electric in the little time we've seen him on the field, so if those three stay, I think we have a great quarterback room
We don't know if Cantrell can throw worth a damn, but he looked great running the ball. Wouldn't mind seeing him move to RB if he stays.

IIRC Moberly is the class ahead of Manske? So Moberly should have 3 years eligibility left and Manske 4. Sort of a Rocco and JJ situation. Barring an injury do you want to sit until you're a RS senior? Pretty much unheard of today. So I agree, Moberly staying likely means Manske is out the door; and honestly it was likely inevitable that we lost one of them anyways. It's just happening this year instead of next year when one beat out the other after Rocco left.

I just really hope we don't end up playing against Manske for multiple years at KSU.
I don't see Manske leaving. He's a lifelong ISU fan and Rocco leaving means the starting job is available. You don't think he will stay and fight for that job? If he loses out to Moberly this year then maybe he leaves next year. Or vice versa. Personally I believe that Manske will be our starter in the fall.

Of course we don't know who else we will have at QB just yet. Maybe one or two WSU QBs will be here.

This off-season and last off-season are night & day regarding the money floating around.

I don't blame anyone. Matt took a promotion/ bigger paycheck. My bet is every professional on this board has left a company for more $.

And no reason for players to not do the same. If another school is going to pay a player tens to hundreds of thousands more than ISU, I can't blame a kid for leaving.

Culture & money can coexist. It's call professionalism;)
You would lose that bet. I stayed over 35 years at one company and turned down a 70% pay raise 5 years in to stay at that company. It all worked out pretty well for me in the end though.

Like I said, that’s just what the quick search said would be paid in ‘26-‘27.

Either way it is a lot more than the Big 12.
Problem is, a lot of reports just guesses.

A lot of reports only say the media deal income from the B12, but then include all revenue paid for the B1G etc.

From my understanding the B1G is estimated to surpass 100M in TOTAL payout, (including bowl, NCAA, Media, etc) by the end of their new contract. I may be wrong, but that is the way I understood it at the time it was being reported. Problem is reports were all over the place, and I am not sure there is any that have see the actual deal and broken it down, just repeated what they saw other places. The B12 is paying an average of 31.5M per year from the Media deal alone, all in that number will be closer to 60M when all things are included.

Look…I got $50k on ‘Monster Mudder Horseasouraus’ in the 4th…he’s a 8k/1 shot…if this hits I’m taking care of all ISU’s NIL needs.

The Powerball didn’t work out Saturday…but I feel a lot better about this one!

Clydesdales are fast…right? They say he’s the fastest Clydesdales ever. It’s a lock.
I turned in late and thought we won…

But it turned out Monster Mudder Horseasourus wasn’t ahead 4 lengths coming into the finish…but was still out there for the next heat.

Needless to say I won’t be funding ISU’s NIL needs and now my 401k is gone as well.

Anyone looking for a roommate?

this is concerning!

The only time I've ever worn a jersey is when i actually played that sport. Grown men wearing jerseys has always been weird to me.

The best is when you're at the store one night in mid-May and you see the guy sporting the Vikings jersey for no apparent reason unless he's just really excited for rookie mini-camp.
This is weird. Really weird.

Academics used to be a big part of the discussion, now, forget it. When was the last time a player moved we were talking about them graduating and getting a degree. This is all about money and the academic part is far down the list.
"Oh, you can stay here and get your degree or go to that other school and get a large sum of money," the athlete will take the money 99% out of 100% of the time.
When is the last time you heard of a player anywhere being academically ineligible. All the teams also have amazing GPAs, all of them. Academics are no longer a concern. Not sure if this is just athletes or the overall grade inflation of the last 20 or so years.

A 70 percent pay raise is nice, but some context? If you were at a company for 35 years, your an old-timer like me. I'm early 60's and 5 years in was working Finance for a Fortune 10 company my salary was low $50's. So that raise would have been $35k. Sure, really good money.

Buy with P4 football players we could be talking hundreds of thousands or even millions of dollars. Reports are Rocco was making $1.5M at Iowa State last season. Does he get $3M+ at PSU? I would expect guys like Brahmer, Neal, Williams, etc. will get at least double what ISU would have been willing to pay.

Yea, nobody on the inside cares. On the Williams/Blum podcast they mentioned TJ Finley has entered the portal and go to his 7th college (LSU, Auburn, Texas State, WKU, Tulane, GSU, ???)!! I would love to see his transcript.

Is he a PHD or is still working on his undergrad?

Why? And it will get worse. I fully expect we'll see 40+ players on the existing Cyclone roster enter the portal. I hope it's less, but IMO just a sign of the times.

But for every guy leaving it opens a spot for Jimmy Rogers to bring in a guy who the staff feels is a better fit for their system.

Look around and there are a ton of programs losing 15+ players and they aren't going through a coaching change.

Didn’t Malcolm Gladwell give a lecture positing this was due to the prevalenace of “Hooked on Phonics” television commercials during the 1990s?

Still puzzling how wazzu was able to play a bowl game but the quitters in the last admin reported through their mouthpieces that it was impossible for Iowa state to play one...
The players allegedly decided they didn’t want to play.

WSU had a skeleton staff remain behind to coach...same offensive scheme, same defensive scheme...we did not have that luxury. It was not possible to install all new schemes in a few weeks, nor could the new staff coach using the old schemes.
