The Odyssey trailer dropped

I was wondering how long this movie will be and was hoping it wasn't going to skimp on length. Sounds like it's not. Apparently it will be around 200 minutes.

I absolutely hate this trend. 0% chance I watch this in theaters now.

Me too. If you can't fit it in 150 minutes or less just give me a mini-series. Chances are I would watch a movie like this in 2 sittings when I watch it at home anyways.

I guess I am completely opposite. This is a MASSIVE undertaking. Making it even 2.5 hours will seem rushed. Which would be absolutely stupid in my opinion. Many agree with you though and will watch it from home which is great. For something this big though...i'm doing IMAX.

Correct. Not sure what that has to do with my post but you have identified the name correctly.
His point is it's a saga. The director is making it how he wants to make it on a massive scale. You aren't someone that wants to sit thought it, and that's fine.

Then compressing it all into even 3:20 isn't going to do the story justice. Make two films or even more. There is enough story to support that.

I'm also not sure why the time length is surprising. First of all it's an epic saga. Anything less than three hours would be disappointing, IMO.

But this is Nolan. Not sure how anyone would think it would be anything less than around three hours given his history of movie lengths + the source material.

Oppenheimer: over 180 minutes
Interstellar: 170 minutes
Dark Knight Rises: 165 minutes
Dark Knight: over 150 minutes
Inception: over 150 minutes
Tenet: over 150 minutes

I may go to see this because its sword and sandel stuff which I love, but it is asking a lot for anyone to sit 3 plus hours in a movie theater with no breaks. It really starts to sour the experience towards the end for myself and many others. For this kind of story I do prefer the mini-series now which allows for the story to breathe more and doesn't make it feel like some kind of endurance challenge, especially now that studios are willing to put huge budgets into mini-series. I enjoy watching big spectacles on IMAX but the length of some of these doesn't make it worth it IMO.

Who said there are no breaks? Pretty sure I read it will have an intermission.
