Excerpt from his book My Football Life:

Our team moved to No. 18 in that national rankings as we prepared for our next game at Iowa State. I came down with pneumonia a few days before we visited Iowa State, but I kept coaching. We led Iowa State 17-6 in the third quarter when a streaker ran onto the football field. For some reason, that incident seemed to change the entire game. How distracting was it? I don't know. But we gave up three fourth-quarter touchdowns in a 27-23 loss, and I felt we were so much better than that Iowa State team. That was as disappointing of a loss as any. It was a very disheartening loss and very painful.

I love Iowa State.

It seems like we carried the North goal post up Lincoln Way to Lake LaVerne & threw it in after the game.
That was the Marv Seiler game where they beat Nebraska. At least that's the story my brother tells. I was in middle school.

ISU has never lost a game with the appearance of a streaker!

Luv it!
I was there!-*
Let's Go State!

*-On the way out of the stadium, I was talking to a disconsolate K-State fan (carrying a big flag), and I told him: *I would trade the ISU win today for the K-State program that is being built.*

I was there too. I laughed at how long it took the cops to cover the guy up as they were marching him out of the stadium.

It's one thing to streak, but to do it when it's below freezing would take an awful lot of confidence (and alcohol).

I'd love to know what that guy is doing today. Probably in politics.

It seems like they had the goal posts surrounded quite well after the Nebraska game.
Was there for both & it's a bit fuzzy now.

I thought that was the new President.

Todd Doxzon was a very good quarterback. There wasn't much around him here then. Jim Walden on his knees begging for a call reversal from the ref was pretty hilarious. He's such a character!
