Where have you been? These most recent renderings have been around for quite awhile. You just noticed they changed from tho original about 4 years ago? Okay.
I don't know why people decided today to get mad about cytown lol. The bottom rendering that everyone's talking about has pretty much been the design for over a year now I think. The first picture I think was one of the first concept images they released to get people the idea of what they're building. This is how every development goes, multiple design revisions, changes etc.

I don't understand why the hotel isn't first on the list. I think it has the best chance of being successful.
I think it’s just a little further behind on design. A hotel attached to Hilton/Scheman is something the University and city have wanted for many many years and will be a big win in and of itself.

For sure. It immediately increases the utility of the entire ISC and opens doors to tons of more available business in a variety of size...

The story we heard is that the Foundation now has the building and doesn’t have a use for it. The foundation is deciding its options, including possibly tearing it down.
Where is the foundation run out of?

I mean, concept art is literally designed with the sole purpose of attracting interest in a project without regard for practicality or budgetary constraints. Have you seen the original concept art for Hilton Coliseum? The Ribcage of Doom?

Well, if that was built, the north end of the football stadium would have already been "bowled in".

I dunno, I don't think it looked too bad. Quaint, definitely not imposing.

Looking at the diagram I wonder if anyone every sat down and figured "this is Ames Iowa and the wind blows out of the North a lot of times, and if we leave the open end on the north side, we are creating a wind tunnel." Which is exactly what they did, Was the view back toward Hilton that important to keep?

No one said it will suck, but the most recent renderings suck compared to what it was supposed to be.

The top, original renderings were just the first proposal. They deviated from that with all subsequent drawings, fairly close to the current design. I think they wanted it farther away from Ioway Cr too.

This looks ******* sick. I love it. Get some hanging ivy over the sides and it could look real sharp. But I love brutalist architecture

agree the practice facilities right outside wouldve been a better spot than out west
but iirc Jensen donated the land for where Sukup is now?

i do think even 20 years later theres still hope for club/suite additions in Hilton.

give me that before a new press box at JTS
