Does the Big 12 want Notre Dame?

Not 100% sure we want them.

But we at least have to take a flyer and see what's up.
Do you want an even shittier partner than Texas was back in the B12? That's what ND would be, and they'd bolt again at first sight of any trouble. Terrible investment for the conference to make.

I wonder if the sports that ND offers matches up with what the B12 offers. For example we offer sports in rifle and horse riding, which I doubt ND offers as a scholarship sport. ND as always is going to do what is best for ND, they are pissed at the ACC because the league throw its weight behind Miami that is a football member, while ND is not. The committee gave them no help, ranking ND above Miami until the final teams were chosen for the playoff. You really can't blame the ACC here, Miami gets in the league gets a cut of the profits, if ND would have gotten in and the league is left out, the ACC get nothing.
One sport that major colleges have, maybe run by the NCAA, is bass fishing. True story: because of flooding on the Mississippi River, the Regional Finals one year were moved to Van Buren County, Lake Sugema.

I'm surprised how many people think ND would even consider the Big XII.
Every superpower was once a third world country. Notre Dame to B12 would galvanize the conference, very likely tipping the media powers in the next contract. Three is the magic power number. Two is not. With two, it's either or. But, with three, you checkdown on the other two. This type of join, could be what saves college sports. Them joining the B1G would not. Of course my opinion, but what has worked in predicting financials.

Would the Big 12 be willing to entertain the idea of adding ND? Yes. Would they enjoy the $ they bring? Yes. Would they cause headaches for all? Yes.
As fun as it could sound, the realist in me says that there is a 0.00000001% chance Notre Dame joins the Big 12.

I agree with what you’re saying, but ND would not take a pay cut to subsidize Houston and UCF just to achieve this goal

Haven't heard from Sparty since. What was that 10 years ago?

How would 16 invalidate the regular season exactly? It would just make more games mean more to teams that could get in. With the parody this year Vandy, Texas, BYU and Notre Dame could all make a run. Notre Dame could've won the whole thing this year. They were favored over every team in the field other than OSU and Indiana (They boat raced Indiana last year).
Where did you see that? They already lost to Texas A&M in South Bend. I'd be surprised if they would have been favored in that match up.

UT/OU part dos.

But the Big 12 could put up a hec of a Holy War series...Mormons, Catholics, Baptists, CC(DOC)'ers...

Of course you take them! Do I really want them? No. But you absolutely take them.
Zero nada zilch chance it happens.

I wouldn't say "zero"...Yormack seems to be the guy who thinks big and takes big swings...I could see him putting a package together that would at the very least be considered by the ND brass. I don't envision ND in the B12 but I believe Yormack would love the opportunity to make them a pitch.

No, why would we want another texas/oklahoma that gets every call. I could name like 10 games we lost because of ref favoritism of blatant calls. There are so many example it would take weeks to post them all.

No doubt Yormark will entertain the idea, he's a savvy business man. He knows ND brings value to the Big 12 but I highly doubt ND would have interest in the Big 12 over the Big Ten, etc. One thing I will say that ND being left out of the CFP could help motivate them a tad to actually join a conference. But I wouldn't count on it.

An incredible play tarnished by throwing in a little Texas two-step from the refs, and there we go, do-si-do, will ISU win, no.

Eff corruption in college sports.

ND values their independence from a conference. They’re basically taking the cake and eating it too. They get a lot of benefits of conference membership while keeping their media revenue to themselves.

The thing about ND is that due to conference consolidation, I don’t think the SEC or Big10 would deal with conference affiliation. They’re either in or out. The Big 12 and the ACC are the only Power conferences that would probably allow ND to keep their sweet deal going.

I hope that all power conferences only allow full membership so we can stop this speciality treatment of them.
