Dear Matt Campbell,

He tells us its about being the most together team and turning guys into good employees, people, fathers etc.

I dont blame him for taking money. I blame him for acting like money wasnt his reason for coaching.

But it’s on me for falling for it.
I am not sure the money was the major reason that he left, it was to win a championship, something that was never going to happen at ISU. We all can get jaded when you hear a coach like Campbell talking, about family and team, but there is a limit to all of that. I get the feeling that the people pissed at Campbell today really thought he would turn down the opportunity of a lifetime to stay at ISU. If he was older, I could maybe see that, but he is still young enough to move on and coach at the new school for 20 years. Being older you learn to settle a little more, and realize that you are never going to win a championship at your school, but you can have a great life and little pressure to win at a high level. Campbell chose to believe in himself and follow his dream of winning a championship, that was not an easy decision, but it was his to make and he is still chasing the dream.

Bill Snyder turned down every significant job in the country in both college and the NFL a majority of his time at K-State. It can be done.
Snyder is a poor comparison as he was older than Campbell, he was almost 50 years old when he got his first head coaching job at KSU, he had been an asst. for 17 years in one form or another. At his age by the time he started winning at KSU, he had roots down and did not want to leave. Not many people want to make a major change in their life when they are approaching 60 and are very successful at where they are at.

We really need to stop hiring these young up and coming coaches. Jamie drops the ball again.

Sorry, you feel betrayed. WVU lost RROD and he was a born and raised coal miner's son who actually played his college football for WVU. Yeah it stings, but MC was loyal--beyond all measure to be honest. He turned down NFL jobs.

There were two jobs I told you years ago that he would not be able to turn down. Ohio State and Penn State. MC is not a midwestern guy. he is from Ohio, he played college football at Pitt, before transferring down to Mt. Union.

MC proved ISU can be more than middling. He beat Miami, Oregon....ISU will be fine. Have faith in Pollard. He will get a good coach to replace MC.

Wish MC luck. he got his dream job. Which one of you would turn down your dream job? It wasn't for the money. he went home.
**** Pollard.

I think the majority of Cyclone fans, while maybe disappointed that Campbell has now left, are also thankful for what he was able to do here, what he stood for, and for how long he did stay.

Those fans will mostly remain silent. 'The vocal minority' is the operative phrase here, with this OP and thread.

Matt has a chance to win a natty at PSU, given time and the boatload's of NIL $'s.
ZERO chance of winning a natty title here.
I thought he was here to shape young men to be the best versions of themselves...maybe I'll let the army do that. You just make sure you win games. You should do a lot of that at Pedo St.

He will do well but not well enough to satisfy the pressure cooker demands of the penn state fan base. A four game losing streak will not be tolerated there.
Loved him while he was here but a couple seasons losing to iowa, Michigan, and THE OSU will land him back to the cement plant he came from. Granted he will be worth millions then, but...sour grapes

Not this time. He's earned it.
Perhaps. I don't know. Still, it's an emotional day. A day or a week of sleep before making a derrogatory comment like you (and others) did, might not be a bad idea.

Pollard has been on thin on ice as far as I'm concerned since losing Sanderson and Hoiberg. He lost Campbell and his ego has been a problem every single time. I'm done with him.

Fair enough. Thanks for sharing your opinion and I respect you for it.

You are a passionate fan and I also respect that! Very much. Have a good night. The sun will come up tomorrow.

I have no ill will for CMC. Go chase that natty. Can’t fault you for that.

The way it went down doesn’t sit well though. PSU mangled their search, went through the Rolodex and hit with CMC. I guess I’d feel better if ISU had a killer season and he was a red hot prospect. We lost to Colorado…
