Matt Campbell has been an amazing coach for our school. I would have loved having him longer, but I don’t think he owes us anything…and the timing isn’t horrible. (There’s never going to be a good time.). Would have loved a shot at Golesh…that’s about my only “regret” timing-wise. I imagine Heacock’s impending retirement may have played into this.

I can’t really say I hope Matt wins a CFP championship now though. That seems disingenuous. I hope ISU wins a championship…with whoever we now have at coach.

I was thinking a similar thing about the timing. At least there is some time for a new head coach to try to secure the recruits and talk to players before the portal opens.

Yup. Literally just throwing any name out we've heard of. And why, to get a one more season out of a QB? Short sighted.

Hiring him because he is Rocco's Dad would be dumb. But does being Rocco's Dad automatically make him the wrong choice? He has coached former Cyclones so I am sure they would have some insight on whether he was a good fit

yep... CMC sees the writing on the wall for college football.... and is getting out and abandoning ship, and his players, as fast as he can! So... it's not all about the players like Matt always said it was now is it? Nope... it's about himself it appears.

For what it's worth Penn State's schedule next year looks really, really easy. He probably will have some early success with our players, which is about enough to make a guy want to puke.

I know existing roster players get a hall pass when a coach leaves. Does the same thing apply to signed recruits?
