Just got finished snow blowing, I would guess 5 to 7 inches at most here in N. Ames. Very heavy snow is going to compress some, but nowhere near the upper level of what they were predicting yesterday.

Had to make a run to HyVee and took the beater truck on its maiden voyage in the snow. It turns out gobs of torque, a 5 speed, 2WD and nothing in the bed is even worse than I thought.

I’m lucky the roads were almost empty or I would have had some horns and fingers flying my way.

Had a 76 chevy just like that growing up only just a three on the tree. It was a beast in the snow when you knew how to drive it. Can't remember if we used sandbags but I don't think so. Lived in the country in gravel road that didn't get plowed for a few days.

Grew up rural on gravel myself. Every vehicle we had was 2wd and somehow we survived. In the winter sandbags, survival clothes in the trunk and driving like you had more sense than a common dog were in order from November to February. On highways the shoulders were always rock and when the road became really slick, you put one tire of your limited slip rear end on the gravel and idle home. Good times!

It could be, but it is going to be a cold week. I think this might stick around for longer than we want.

Grew up rural on gravel myself. Every vehicle we had was 2wd and somehow we survived. In the winter sandbags, survival clothes in the trunk and driving like you had more sense than a common dog were in order from November to February. On highways the shoulders were always rock and when the road became really slick, you put one tire of your limited slip rear end on the gravel and idle home. Good times!

Did that not many yrs ago climbing a big hill near home when I had some bald tires on a 2WD Dodge Dakota.

How's that bigger Ego working? Which model exactly?

I have a PITA driveway - long in two directions, and one of those is 30 ft wide section, 100+ feet long, and blocked on the long sides (4 stall garage on one side, and neighbor fence on other - I won't blow over because his beagles run around there and I am not a richard). Blade on lawn tractor can't handle more than about 3 inches of light fluff. Current snowblower can't blow more than maybe 20-25 feet, so end up blowing it both directions multiple times and super frustrating. I want something that will launch 6" of wet snow into fking low earth orbit.

Blower attachment for lawn tractor? Well the other long section of driveway is very steep at the bottom and I get stuck down there with the blade coming back up. So making the front end heavier isn't gonna help. Wheel weights are useless against slush and steep.

So I think my best bet is just going Leroy Jenkins with the baddest mofosnoblo I can find. Is that the Ego? How far will it throw? How long does it work before running out of charge? Normally it takes me probably 2 hours with the 24" 2-stage. How long for those 12 Ah batteries to recharge?

Appreciate any intel - super frustrated today.

I have the 24" 2 stage EGO and I have 7.5 amph batteries. I can't give any first hand input yet as I haven't used it but will report back when I go out here in a bit. It says it'll blow the snow up to 50'. I was more than impressed with the 21" single stage snowblower that I am sure I'll be happy with this one. I do know of 3 people that have the same model as I do and they have all been happy with them. EGO makes a 28" unit with 2 12amph batteries that might work better in your situation.

Honestly I'd look for a big gasser in your situation. They've got some 28-30" behemoths out there on marketplace that would do you right. I had a tracked cub cadet 28" that was a beast before I sold it when I got the EGO. I wouldn't have gotten rid of it if I had your situation though.

Not sure what you have for a lawn tractor but does it have a 3 point hitch? You can buy or build your own weight that attaches to the 3 point that does a lot better job of weighting the back end than wheel weights do.
