'People are flat-out slobs': Jamie Pollard

Another issue to consider if they sell beer to everyone, they got to do something to upgrade Sukup. Most people in sukup are there because it allows them to drink and attend game. Who want to sit in the endzone if the key privledge is kind of taken away and accessable to the masses.

The key privilege is having access to an indoor area, private concessions and restrooms, etc.

It's not like Sukup is unique in college football. Most power conference teams have a VIP-type area, which provides indoor seating, upgraded amenities and easier access to concessions including alcohol. Just about all of them also sell beer in the rest of the stadium.

Not quite. I think the main draws of the Sukup Endzone Club are the AC on hot day, shelter on a rainly/snowy day, and heat on a cold day.

They have indoor areas, and private restrooms. That enough is club level worthy.

Quite right. Not a single person who I know who has SEZ seats or has told me they are contemplating getting them has listed alcohol as a primary concern. It is pretty much universally the ability to get out of the elements when the weather turns bad (hot, cold, rainy, snowy, etc.).

I wouldnt call Sukup VIP.....If there is anything Jack Trice lacks is purchasable VIP seating ... i have sat in Jack Trice Club and Sukup and neither would really come across as VIP. Jack Trice is nice and on the 50 but compare it to premium club at other NFL/P4 schools and we easily in the bottom half.

Does Sukup only sell beer or do the offer other stuff as well like mixed drinks? Agree with you, that selling beer all over isn't going to make people not want Sukup.

Maybe...but what makes more money should be the decision-maker? Does selling to the masses bring in more money...or select to a select few who can afford that status bring in more cash? I don't know that answer...

It wouldn't just be beer sales, though. I don't think this is true, but if there is a significant number of people who donate more for the privilege to get into Sukup and they decided to donate less since they can get beer anywhere, that would outweigh selling it to the masses. I don't think that would happen at all, but thats where the math would need to come into play.

I always thought the biggest perk of the end zone was having their own bathrooms. I’ve only sat in the seats a few times but I thought the beer lines were too long to wait so I just drink my beer after the games.

Agree...I wasn't clear...I guess I meant doing it the way they do this vs selling beer to the masses. Which route brings in more money? IF that is indeed why they structure alcohol sales they way they currently do...

My wife and daughter sit there because of the individual stadium seats.

The Sukup area sells both beer and mixed drinks, individual seats with cup holders, if you want to sit outside. They have a better food option, bathrooms than what the general public has available. You can sit inside when it's hot, cold or snowing and either watch out one of the windows, or on the TVs all around the area.
Its a quality setup, but expensive, our four seats in the lower bowl right beside the area sells for a little over 2 grand for our four seats, those same four seats in the Sukup area would be right at 5 grand between the price of the seats and the required donation.

Getting out of the elements is nice, stadium seats are nice, but dang. I don't get why people are willing to pay that much more to sit in the endzone and watch the game on the big screen above Jacobsen. It's a lousy POV if you're there to watch football.

I was in there once and saw a man's ass.

So maybe it's also about ambiance

I was at the TCU game, it was pretty nice to watch Iowa State win and have a few cold ones!
I was definitely not expecting Happy Hour when we got into the stadium early before kickoff. $3 beers for anything. I had a number of the local option that came in the purple tall boy.

This is a huge appeal to me. Being crammed in on a metal bleacher is miserable. Even getting one of the flip up seat cushions does little to improve the situation. Just like flying first class, a big benefit in Sukup is a wider seat and more leg room.
