***2026 Minnesota Vikings***

3 step drop and quick passes. That’s primarily what KOC should be doing the entire game with McCarthy.
That’s why the last drive was successful. Don’t allow JJ to think.
He needs to learn to process what the defense is doing though...so he has to "think" and learn how to be a good QB and not just a 3 step and throw it all the time.

I was telling my son when the Vikings kicked off on that last drive they need to just kick this out of the back of the end zone...don't give them a chance for a long return...
But they effin decided to kick it to a returner...and look what happened. The game was lost right then and there. KOC HAS to be better at game situations and management and overrule stuff like this and make it clear to kick it out of the endzone and not let a return happen.

The Vikings radio call in show was quite entertaining this afternoon.

Nobody is going to say that giving the offense the ball at the 35 is ideal - it's only 25-30 yards from most kickers' FG range. But by kicking a returnable ball they instead let the Bears start their drive in FG range. Too many coaches outthink themselves in critical game situations.

The Vikings are not going to the playoffs anyway... might as well let JJM take his lumps and learn. We'll know more by the end of the year if he can stay healthy.
That's where I'm at. Doesn't matter if they don't win another game, let McCarthy play every snap and find out if there is anything there. If it is still this bad at the end of the season, they know they will have to do something else (if they aren't too stubborn to admit it). Granted, during the games I will get mad and frustrated when they lose, but this is what needs to happen.

Plus if they finish 4-13 or 5-12, MAYBE they will fire Kwesi and get a real GM that knows how to draft and build a roster with depth.

This team just drives me insane. Either give me an A or give me an F for a season. Watch them win a couple more and end up 7-10...not even a great draft pick spot.

Were these sailed passes/complete misses evident at Michigan? Feels like the kid is in his head and trying to overthink things. Way too focused on mechanics and has the "Yips".

Oh, this is definitely happening. They have too much talent to not show up once in a while, like Detroit.

What I read from them recently was that this is what he looked like in his early starts at UM before it all clicked together one day and he became a normal high-tier CFB QB. They make it sound like a comfort issue over a skill one.

I'm still annoyed that the offense isn't changing. Throw lots of INTs on deep passes...keep insisting on throwing tons of deep passes. MIN has actually sustained drives when they commit to taking shorter chunks that are available instead of going for the big shots with JJM as he is now.

More like way too focused on his face paint and childish alter ego bullcrap.
I remember one of the games right before he came back that he was dressed but out and was on the sideline acting like a cheerleader. No headset on, did not seem involved in the technical aspect of the game. Seemed unusual.

Obviously no real info, but all his pregame odd routines at Michigan with the mental coach and how he acts always seemed strange to me. It’s like a kid that has the physical tools, doesn’t have the QB/leader mentality but is trying to manufacture it.

But there are glimpses where he just plays and makes things happen.

As for the mechanics, on one hand Purdy went to a guy before the draft and it helped him a lot. On the other hand, WTF is a second year NFL QB that had a major profile early in life doing still needing to fix mechanics. The kid has been probably had crazy amounts of coaching training coming up.

Also forgot about this - got his first offer from Campbell in 8th grade.
