*** 2025-26 ISU WBB Season Thread ***

As the twister sisters get ready for the first test, Drake, and watching the home games… I am a bit concerned. The concern isn’t the talent or the toughness of the team. My concern with the coach and the game plan. Watching CBF boil over at the start of every game that the team isn’t doing something “right “. The time to fix a majority of this was before the start of the season… and looking at he team, 4 of the 5 starters are returning for their 2 to third year. Plus watching the offense reminds me of the start of last year. The 3 player and sometimes the 2 standing like statues on the wings. Audi trying to get position down low, Addy fighting for what she can get and getting frustrated when the shots don’t fall. The positive is the zest that Jada and Reese bring in.

Maybe things will change later, but for a coach claiming to watch film to change up the offense, things look the same.

Rant over.
I disagree. Off ball offense is a lot better than last year. If Audi can't position herself early in the low post she stays high to set screens and waits for an oping to get low. Thus, opening up Addy to post up smaller defenders or Jada to get to the paint. Hare and Jackson are moving more off ball and running more designed plays for them to get open through flare screens, etc.

As far as Bill "boiling" over. It's over stuff every coach gets mad over because they talk about it a million times a year. Boxing out, getting back on defense, and making terrible passing decisions. All of which are likely a result of playing terrible teams and not being 100% focused because they don't need to be.

You’ve been watching a completely different team than I’ve seen all season. The style of play this year is 100% different than anything we’ve seen before. Personnel movement, ball movement (30 assists for 31 baskets attests to that), depth of the bench, performance of reserves, etc. it’s all different. When has Audi shown frustration or even had any trouble establishing position this year?

not to pick a fight but it was Addy getting frustrated when shots don't fall not audi

I thought our offense looked good against Norfolk State. The ball movement was good. The big three were great. Hare, Harris, and AJ shot it well. I think if that happens it makes us a really good team. I personally don’t care for CBF’s demeanor on the sidelines, but that is who he is. I do think we have the talent to win the conference and make at least a sweet sixteen if we stay healthy. I think it is CBF’s responsibility to make it happen. Our program is looking at a big reset after next year, we are going all in on this team so there needs to be results.

You mean national champion coaches like Mulkey or Stanley get hot under the collar?
Oh yeah, look at some old videos of Pat Summit, Sonja Hogg, Leon Barmore, Kim Mulkey, Vic Shaeffer etc etc. When you said Stanley did you mean Staley? Are you actually old enough to remember coach Stanley at Old Dominion? She did win a NC. But I didn't think you'd remember that far back.

Damned autocorrect…yes Staley

I agree that CBFs style is somewhat limited- but very consistent. Play the percentages, win the games you should, and steal a couple here and there.

I do think this team has a higher ceiling than last year (final 4 is still a stretch, but making the 2nd weekend should be the goal at least)

I know you can’t ever look past an opponent, but there is a reason the word “Mercy” is a part of the next opponent’s name. Mercyhurst is 0-4 and was only competitive when they had a $2 beer promotion against Cornell.
1. They’ve been outscored by a margin of nearly 36 ppg. Yes, this is heavily skewed by the MSU butt kicking.
2. They’ve are only making 14 baskets per game.
3. They average 23 turnovers per game
4. Lena Walz is their only double digit scorer at about 14 per game. She has good percentages from all ranges. She will be the focal point of the defense.
5. Gabby Sweeney is the only player on the team over 6 feet tall. She only plays 8 minutes per game.

I think the reserves will get a LOT of minutes Sunday. I’m headed to Vegas for the men’s tournament so I won’t be there, but will follow remotely.

Another fun stat:

Audi has more made field goals (61) than Mercyhurst (59).
