Starting to think the Big 12 gets at least two teams in the playoff

I don’t see Utah losing again, and I don’t think they’re going to make the conference championship game either. The ACC looks like hot garbage.

We’ll see what the CFP rankings look like, I suppose.

At least?

Lol
Yeah, I think there’s a chance Texas Tech, BYU, and Utah all get in. BYU would probably have to beat Tech next week and then Tech would have to make the championship game and win. You would have 11-2 champion Tech, 12-1 BYU, and 10-2 Utah ranked in the top 12. Two teams is more likely because I think Tech crushes BYU this week.

There’s a good chance the Big Ten only gets three teams in. The ACC isn’t going to get more than one. Notre Dame is a loss away from not getting in. There are just more ways for the Big 12 to get two or more in than people are seeing.

If the AP rankings mattered, sure. But they don't. I think 2 teams is as likely as 1, but no way do we get 3. The committee will put in a 5th place, 9-3 B1G/$EC over a 3rd place, 10-2 Big 12 team.
SEC maybe, but I don’t think so with the Big Ten. I’m really curious to see what the CFP rankings look like because they often rely heavily on the eye test and computer rankings and Utah looks great by both.

Again, any chance at three teams relies on Tech being champion and BYU being 12-1. Of Utah is sitting there at 10-2 in the top 12, I think they get in. Texas still has a couple losses coming and OU still has to play Alabama.

The B1G and SEC will just get 5 or 6 both so we don't have to worry about the silly discussion of who else should be included.

*sarcasm for those that don't see it.

Yeah big ten getting 4 would mean either Michigan beats OSU again or USC beats Oregon. Outside of one of those results big ten doesn’t have a path to 4 teams.

Big12 should get 2 unless there is chaos like last year or BYU stomps TT.

SEC should end with 4
Big Ten 3
Big12 2
ACC 1

Who's Utah beaten? Cincy? Cincy being ranked is kind of a joke because they haven't beaten anyone either. Utah's played 2 good teams and lost to them both. Their remaining 3 games are against 3 pretty bad teams.

Agree. Looking at the SEC, Texas A&M, Alabama, Georgia, and Ole Miss have one loss or fewer. I think they all get in.

Of the two-loss teams, Texas still has to play at Georgia and home against Texas A&M. Oklahoma has to go to Alabama. Missouri still has Texas A&M at home and at Oklahoma. Vandy’s toughest game remaining is at Tennessee.

I think Vandy is the most likely to end with just two losses, but if it’s between 10-2 Vandy as the 5th team from the SEC and 10-2 Utah as the second team from the Big 12, I kind of think Utah gets in.

Arizona State and Cincy are decent wins and other than BYU in a rivalry game and Texas Tech, they’ve absolutely crushed their competition. Power rankings love them and I think they’re a borderline top ten team.

I agree with everything but your last paragraph. If it’s 10-2 vandy vs a 10-2 Utah, vandy is 100% getting in unless Utah is in the Big12 championship game.

You think Utah is borderline top-10? Lol. Why is Cincy a decent win? They haven't beaten anyone very good.

Maybe, but it’s just as likely Ole Miss drops a game to Florida or loses the Egg Bowl and ends up with two losses and falls behind Utah in the rankings. I just think there would be significant pressure to take a second qualified Big 12 team over a 5th team from the SEC.

I cringe to say it, but EIU has a chance to win out and go to the CFP, even though they won't be anywhere near the top 12 when the rankings come out on Tuesday. Somehow their QB can only pass for 100 yards a game and they still win. I think it's that margins thing.

Possibly, but I was just responding to your scenario of a 10-2 vandy vs a 10-2 utah.

SEC is getting 4 they won’t be getting 5.

I’ll take any bet that you want that Iowa won’t win out. All winnings can be donated to we will. There is zero chance that Iowa will win out, they haven’t beaten anyone with a pulse
