***2026 Minnesota Vikings***

I hate that some Vikings fans are already doubting JJ, despite him playing 1.25 games healthy... Watch these highlights and tell me why we should give up on the potential already?? Keep in mind the Bears are #1 in the NFL in interceptions and the Falcons are #2 in yards allowed.

I'm more concerned about the line giving JJ time and risking him getting hit/hurt

This Vikings team is a mess on almost every level. That last time I remember being this bad was 1984 during the Les Testical coaching regime.

Seems a little harsh. They have about every member of their o-line hurt as well as their starting RB and QB, coupled with this goofy *** European vacation and here they are.

What throws in that montage had you excited? Seemed like a lot of dirtballs (low throws) early and anything downfield was to a wide-open receiver, outside the JJ touchdown catch which imo was a "no, no, no, no, YES" kind of play.

3 Fourth quarter TD's, on the road, against a division rival, in his first start, and leaving a double digit come from behind victory.

I don't think he's Joe Montana, but that's really, really good. The guy deserves a full season before we can draw conclusions

People shouldn’t be giving up on him but other than that one quarter he has been bad.

And that’s a really small sample size but the clock is ticking. 1.5 years into the all important rookie deal window. It doesn’t help that in the past couple years guys like Dart, Maye, Nix, Penix, Daniels all have largely looked really good and far more prepared when they got thrown in.

We will see. The objective of this year is to get a better idea if he’s likely to be a franchise QB or not.

True, except you're forgetting the fact Chase has now produced elite numbers with 2 bad Qbs while Jefferson has a bad QB now and his numbers are way down.

SituationGames (GP)Receptions (REC)Targets (TRG)Receiving Yards (YDS)Yards Per Rec (AVG)TDs
With Burrow57 games380 catches560 targets5,207 yards13.746 TDs
Without Burrow12 games73 catches102 targets847 yards11.65 TDs
Key take-aways:
  • When paired with Burrow, Chase averages about 91.4 receiving yards per game and scores about 0.81 TDs per game.
  • Without Burrow, his production drops to roughly 70.6 yards per game and about 0.42 TDs per game.

Ok, thanks for proving my point that Jefferson would be even better if he had Burow. I think we can agree on that.

The point i was making, which you didn't address in your research is Jefferson hasn't been very good with Mccarty or Wentz where Chase has still produced with Brownibg and Flacco.

Jefferson with Wentz/McCarthy this season has been pretty similar to Chase in those stats. Higher yardage (86 ypg) but lower TD rate (.14).

Justin Jefferson — With vs. Without Kirk Cousins (Regular Season)

SituationGames (GP)Receptions (REC)Targets (TRG)*Receiving Yards (YDS)Yards Per Game (Y/G)Yards Per Rec (AVG)Touchdowns (TD)TDs per Game
With Cousins54354~500+ (varies by source)5,338~98.915.128~0.52
Without Cousins29175~250+ (varies)2,622~90.415.013~0.45
*Target totals vary slightly depending on database, but final production rates are stable.

Key Takeaways

  • Jefferson’s production dips slightly without Cousins — but not dramatically.
  • He still averages ~90 yards per game without Cousins, which is elite WR1 production.
  • His efficiency (yards per catch) barely changes (15.1 → 15.0), showing his route-running and YAC ability are QB-independent.
  • Touchdown rate declines a bit, suggesting Cousins’ timing and trust in the red zone matters.

Now, Side-by-Side Summary (with their QBs)

PlayerWith QB (Y/G)Without QB (Y/G)ChangeTD/Game WithTD/Game Without
Ja’Marr Chase~91.4~70.6Significant drop0.81 → 0.42Larger drop
Justin Jefferson~98.9~90.4Mild drop0.52 → 0.45Small drop

Interpretation

  • Chase’s production is much more tied to Burrow — their chemistry + timing is core to his usage.
  • Jefferson remains elite even with backup QBs, indicating a higher “quarterback-proof” profile.

Jefferson has produced elite numbers with 6 or 7 different QBs by this point.

This season, Chase has ~100 more yards while playing an extra game, and the first few games he did have his top tier starting QB, which Jefferson never had.

You're Bears-Fan-Coping right now.

No, I'm a Justin Jefferson owner in fantasy who is getting crushed by Jamar Chase this year because of you terrible QB situation. I watch Chase get targeted over 20 times while its like pulling teeth to get Jefferson the ball.

Chase has also been WR1 twice overall while Jefferson has only finished 1st once.

They are roughly 6 ppg different right now, AKA, the difference between getting into the end zone or not.

MIN has leaned early on its rush game and tends to have lower-scoring games with fewer possessions than CIN does. Chase also has quite a bit less target competition than Jefferson does, as a large body of the passing work has gone to Addison and Hockenson. Those two combine for as many targets as Jefferson has; CIN's next 3 pass catchers don't combine for the targets that Chase has, on top of that offense passing a much, much higher amount.

There's not much in the way of helping you if you drafted fantasy players without considering the situation around them. MIN was never going to be a "throw 50 times a game" offense this season, and even then, Jefferson still has very good receiving stats -- he just doesn't find the end zone. Nor does the entire offense, it's not a 'him' problem (it actually looks like Jefferson is slightly better on a per-target/per-reception basis, looking at the stat page, but again, lack of TDs).
