The very first thing I thought of when I read about Franklin’s firing was was the possible connection between that action and what many on here have expressed after the past two games as our coaching staff being seemingly and uncharacteristicly “disconnected”. I remember well how Fred Hoiberg coached what many felt was a Final Four team ve UAB and it almost seems as though I have the same feeling from my our FB coaches after these last two games! Could Penn State be positioned to steal a second very successful coach?
Unreal.....$48 million buyout. I know those types are competitive and all that, but dang....id hang it up and enjoy the easy life.
Man insane world we are living in. Penn St went 13-3 last year and made a deep run in the CFP. Now half way through the next year they fire the coach.
Not to mention his record overall.
I get there are some issues with winning the big games, but wow, you may think that grass looks greener on the other side of that fence, but jump over and land in a pile of ****.
I have a feeling he will find another job fairly easily. I am sure places like VT would kill for Penn States recent record.

I suppose our last two weeks helps maybe not him being the first call (recency of memory).....but yeah, have to think their folks would be poking around to ask and say "you e exceeded expectations at ISU and have a lot of Sunday players now ....think what you could do with our resources?.....oh, and we will double your yearly salary and your a legit good dude and Franklin wasn't...our fans will love you."

OH PLEASE. Were there a couple strange plays, yeah. People act like they know more about football than our coaches, who a couple weeks ago we were ready to build statues for.
Everything going on in our house is 100% related to our insane number of injuries, to major players on the team.
My only question about our coaching staff is if our Strength and Conditioning is the issue, because every coach I ever knew always said injuries are directly related to Strength and Conditioning.
I don’t think Campbell is at the top of Penn State’s short list.
No don't pay that big of a buyout to hire Matt. Fans would not be happy even though he would do well there

Agree. Rhule makes a lot of sense. Just don’t think he’d be an upgrade over Franklin.
Agreed and it was tolerable when you only lost the big games but losing to NW and UCLA (although they are weird now) means there isn’t much upside, he’s clearly lost the team
This is ISUs budget for all coaches and assistant coaches salaries in all sports for 3 years.
Is there precedent for a coach going from top 5 and on the doorstep of a NC berth, then getting canned midway through the next season?
Penn State deserves whatever they get.
If this year was better without the losses to cinci and Colorado then I agree, especially after last season but the record against lower tier teams and recruiting issues will make them reconsider.
Honestly wouldn’t be suprised if they offer Dabo but don’t know if he would go. Also thing GT’s coach would be possible but I want him for sparty
