*** Official #22 IOWA STATE vs Colorado Game(Day) Thread ***

It is amazing how many uncatchable balls there are when defenders can just grab the receivers and toss them to the ground.
Serious question. You think Once the ball is in the air, in the 0.1-0.2 seconds it takes to get to the guy that makes the pick at the 1, Brahmer is going to come back to the ball from 5-6 yards deep and make a play? Because unless you think he can (making him by far the most athletic human in history) then it’s not a catchable ball by the offensive player.

It would have been possible to catch a ball thrown within five yards of a receiver if he wasn’t tackled by the defender. You want to ignore the fact that it was defensive holding in the end zone, giving the ball to the offense with an automatic first down. The defensive holding happened before the interception.

Campbell has a history of righting the ship and rallying the team after this stuff happens. Obviously conference championship game potential took a huge hit today. But honestly how many time in our history as a program has it ever been realistic. Most of those times have come from this staff and head coach. Some of the stuff said about Campbell makes be sick by fans today.

A conference championship is realistic in this Big 12. Especially in a year where BYU and ASU are somewhat down. I look at ASU, BYU, and Tech as the "Big Dogs" in the new NIL Big 12. I'm not saying we should expect to be in contention every year but its not a pipe dream like it was in the old Big 12. I fully expect the team to still win 8 games or more but it is frustrating to lose to Colorado. They aren't very good.

Campbell is a damn good coach, there's no doubt. But he could be a great coach if he was willing to change up a few things. A lot of the things that ISU has been bad at are the things he refuses to change. Some of the good things have been bad lately, like discipline. That discipline is why we have won a lot of close games in the past and it's just not there anymore.

I love what Campbell has brought to the program and I’m also at a total loss trying to understand how a team can completely collapse in two weeks against middle of the pack Big 12. I get there’s injuries, but that doesn’t explain what’s happening on the field. The team has just taken massive steps backward in all facets.

Anyone think it’s a slight waste of time that the staff do their picks every week? Maybe it’s partly the frustration losing two in a row coming out, but it feels pointless when literally everyone always picks ISU to win…

Not denying that

After Purdy basically stagnated/regressed in his last 2 years at ISU, people here also said that Purdy would never be an NFL QB. Then Purdy went in found himself somebody who actually knew how to coach QBs...

You forgot to add that last season Purdy started to show out some very much on par Purdyisms (and has this year when playing) in decision making and his arm strength looks about the same as his time at ISU no matter how much people want to deny it.

This isn't to say Rocco's an NFL guy as the 'well he's having an off day' is a weekly occurrence but maybe let's pump the brakes on acting like it's all on coaching.

The issue I think a lot of fans have is that Campbell's teams are supposed to be so disciplined and fundamentally sound but they aren't. At least consistently. If we lose its not supposed to be because we beat ourselves.

I agree, but losing Cooper may have been huge from a leadership aspect. Jontez was also a stud. The linebackers are slow, can’t play faster guys if they aren’t there. Orange is a beast and he isn’t healthy

Quarterback draw on third and ten late in the game was strange especially knowing they were going to punt if they didn't get the first down.

It comes down to quality depth. Something we clearly don't have. At least in the sense that when a starter goes down we simply are just "next man up".
