Its LA if you win they show up.They don’t care about sports though
Lived there for over 30 years and UCLA did draw back in the day.
They have to invest though, to your point they let things deteriorate a lot. Pretty bad

They just might be ahead of the curve in that regard...with all the changes to the college athletic landscape...I can understand not caring as much as one might have in the past! I mean...I am all for benefits for the student-athlete...even though some of those benefits have lessened my enjoyment of college sports! They don’t care about sports though
Yeah I don’t disagree with that. Gotta invest back and wanting to invest is going to be key.Its LA if you win they show up.

Guess it depends on Big 12 valuation. Suspect that 5 schools in Big 10 will get larger shares on Big 10 PE distributionThey will make more money?
Yeah I think it was a domino effect of things. Plenty of schools on the West Coast outside of a few really stopped putting in the resources into athletics like basketball and football and honestly the timeline sort of lines up with 2020 and COVID.They just might be ahead of the curve in that regard...with all the changes to the college athletic landscape...I can understand not caring as much as one might have in the past! The only way that happens is if an entity other than Fox and ESPN gets a fair share of CFP rights and makes it worth their while to invest big dollars in the B12.It's not hard to imagine a future where a Big12-like conference offers the Iowas and Nebraskas of the B1G "Come to our league. You'll make more money and you'll be in the top tier and in the driver's seat."
And those schools will listen.
Yeah it definitely would. What I've always said is that I didn't think the B1G would go to unequal sharing of media revenue, but I could see them going to unequal sharing of bowl/CFP revenues. Right or wrong on that would've been easy to see come the next media deal in 2030. With a deal like this, who the hell knows, if it's really a situation where all revenue streams are lumped together and then it's distributed based on tiers that's obviously unequal revenue sharing. I just know a majority of university presidents would have to vote in favor of changing the conference's bylaw on sharing of media revenues. Maybe with this they do. Or, maybe they say media revenues are being split equally and everything else is tiered to sidestep the hassle of voting on it. Regardless, it would definitely be unequal splits of revenue.Genuine question. Not being a smartass.
Does splitting up this PE cash count as unequal revenue sharing to you? Wondering where you draw the line?
You think they'd make more money in a Big 12-like conference than they would in the B1G, even at a smaller cut than tOSU/Michigan?It's not hard to imagine a future where a Big12-like conference offers the Iowas and Nebraskas of the B1G "Come to our league. They have never drawn well since their move to the Rose Bowl, 30 miles away and an hour drive from campus. The only times they have filled it up was games vs USC and big non conference opponents with huge fan bases. Its LA if you win they show up.

Actually the lease is worse it goes another 19 years it's brutal and they need to try and get out of itThey have never drawn well since their move to the Rose Bowl, 30 miles away and an hour drive from campus. What they really need is a new on campus 40K-50K stadium but there is evidently no real estate to do so and the surrounding high end neighborhoods don’t want it.
They would move to SoFi but they foolishly signed a long term lease with the Rose Bowl that extends through the 2030s.
PE is going to create their superleague one way or another. Wise move by the BIG to offer themselves as that vehicle, rather than fight it and be picked apart. I suspect the SEC will follow
A PE backed BIG is just the start
No wonder Iowa cant make a field goal, if that is how much those goalposts move.Lol, I've been saying that for a very long time, long before this report came out, so it's not something I'm just pulling out now. And it's a pretty clear delineation... media revenue, bowl/CFP revenue.
Michigan BOR member will not support reported B10 PE deal and Campbell is correct relative to timing of the media leak for this supposed deal:
PE does nothing to make the end user experience better. It will not be better for the Fan. They exist solely to make money… for them. The injection of cash would be selling our soul to the devil. They don’t make these deals to take a loss. Expect more and more whittled away in the name of “cost cutting” because the #1 rule is Number Go Up. They privatize the gains and subsidize the losses.
There’s a reason we are seeing the “enshittification” of seemingly everything. PE is fools gold.
You think you have the downsides of PE but trust me, you really don’tWe already have the downsides of PE.
None of the benefit that could come from a single profit objective function
I am willing to bet that if a vote was taken on the following two options, the majority of legacy B10 Presidents/AD/Regents would vote for the Option A Campbell Plan (legacy = 10 B10 schools prior to expansion):Jordan is a great guy and is a loud voice on the board. I hope he can convince OSU to stand with them as I don’t have a lot of confidence in MSU’s current board.
Also I know for a fact that Jordan and others at Michaign are against campbells proposal
Highly doubtful it’d be more, but if it can get in the ballpark and offer a conference without the titans being a roadblock to success, could be worth looking atYou think they'd make more money in a Big 12-like conference than they would in the B1G, even at a smaller cut than tOSU/Michigan?
