I've been all in on PTA's latest movie dropping next week, One Battle After Another. He's a director I don't care what he does, I'll be seeing it opening weekend. Tickets already bought for next Thursday. Magnolia is a top three movie in history for me.

While I thought this looked really good, I wasn't under the impression that it would hit like some of his all-timers like Magnolia, Boogie Nights, and There Will Be Blood.

I was wrong. Reviews are out, and on Metacritic, it's AVERAGING a score of 97 out of 100 with 31 top critics reviews. That is...basically unheard of for any movie in any genre. Anything average over a 90 is incredible with 30+ reviews in.

If you know the backstory, this movie is a re-telling of the famous Pynchon novel Vineland. Which...given the times we are in, will resonate for many I'm sure.

After this screened, it's shot up basically every Oscar predictor's list as the Best Picture winner.

Paul Thomas Anderson, the Coen brothers, and Alexander Payne are the directors that I'll go to the theater to see anything they do. So I've been looking forward to this for awhile and everything that's come out about it has put it in the There Will Be Blood/ No Country for Old Men level.

Recency bias...I am fully aware. But this movie ******* rocks.

The smallness of insecure white men. White supremacy. Immigration. Racism. Yet thrilling and funny. Extremely funny some parts. Disgustingly close to the world we live in. Action is top notch. Acting is aces across the board (Sean Penn is one of the most disgusting villains in recent memory).

It's long. It's Paul Thomas Anderson. So if you aren't fans of his (Boogie Nights, There Will Be Blood, Magnolia), might not be for you. Instant classic to me.

Good. Love me some McQueen but it's about time Bullet was dethroned.

I've also always loved the truck chase scene in The Road Warrior, brutal for sure, but pretty awesome.
Note. It’s hard to describe but it’s not like a fast car chase. Haha I don’t know how to explain it other than it’s pretty brilliant how PTA shoots it.

I went again last night. Haha. I don’t think I’ve seen a movie twice in the theater since like Parasite maybe.

Fury Road has like 4 of the best chase scenes by itself.
It's hard to overstate how good Fury Road was. From the story, to the acting, to the special effects, to the cinematography, it was just incredibly tight and meticulous. Nothing was random about it. Every little detail was on purpose.

I agree, but would also include Tarantino.

Ya. That was real good.
Yes!! That car chase is something else. People just have to see it. Best car chase ever? Not saying that. But it’s innovative as hell and the shots are brilliant. Soundtrack incredible too.
