Hey Pollard stop agreeing to these games

4 million seems like a bit of an exaggeration (seems like there have been numbers showing closer to 1.5/game) It gets there because the home game is currently free. So you'd have to pay for that plus for the additional home game. So 3-4 mil

Yep

If you only have the Arkansas State game in Ames in 2024, you have to give them $1.5 million; then you’d have to pay somebody else $1.5 million to take today’s game on your schedule.

If you really think the former CPA doesnt know down to the damn dollar how much benefit or cost there is for a game you're out of your damn mind.

You would also never see other P4 teams on the road if the money wasn't a big factor but yet a LOT of P4 travel each year to a lesser school. B12 and ACC teams won't have much choice with the disparity in money the SEC and B10 can afford to pay out.

This has been shown multiple times to be a massive exaggeration in other threads.

Not many P4 teams are doing this with the regularity we do, without some kind of additional motive or history, or not at least getting a 2 for 1 out of it.

It probably has to do with the money you’d have to spend to bring an Arkansas State to Ames without a return game there. You do a home and home, there’s no extra payment; get a home game only, you have to pay $1 million or more.

I’m not sure how that gets to $4 million, but …

If they were $4 million in benefit, I’m shocked we haven’t been doing them more. Especially back when we had less for home attendance (and only 8 conference games).

And we should expect to see a lot more, at ISU and other P4 schools, as schools look to save money in order to handle the step-change in costs from revenue sharing

Lmao at those that think other schools are going to SunBelt in a one-for-one. JP needs a better negotiator and calculator.

These will go away, particularly with CyTown.

Exactly and he has a coach that didn’t want to go there either, it made financial sense

Everyone on this board should be giving to WeWill no excuses.
Would you donate money to your favorite NFL or NBA team so they can bring in a new free agent? I'll always bleed cardinal and gold, but I can't see donating money to pay six figure player salaries for an athletic department with over $120 million in revenue per year.

It’s fairly common for other P4 schools. Yeah not every year, and we don’t do it every year either. Other schools get a hell of a lot more money from donors as well, hence why they may not need to do it as often.

Hey we are power 4, Matt hates it, give it up!
Do yourself a favor and research before posting absolute garbage. I'll help you out: look when this game was scheduled. It's not like it was scheduled when we were "play-off" caliber.

Given when this was scheduled, it was possible to get two home games under $3 million. Factoring in lost revenue from not having a home game, and it is no where near $4 million benefit

The real issue is scheduling it in the first place, as there are often cancellation penalties.

It’s largely contingent on having Iowa at home offsetting the loss of a home game.

Fledgling programs, which we were when this was scheduled, need all the help they can get. The fact this was scheduled pre-revenue sharing makes it even worse

I think he's saying we pay them 1.5m to come here, fine. But he's not netting that out against a home game revenue. My guess is is it costs a little, but this 4m thing is just rediculous.
You can’t spell ridiculous but you think you know more about the AD finances than the guy who runs the department.

What's the expected value of a top 15 team sucking ass or losing in Arkansas? That's a different sort of analysis than the dollar and cents analysis that CPA's apply,
