Cyhawk postgame thread

That Gookin poster really lays it out perfectly. I am stunned by his fair analysis, the dude clearly smart anddid his homework and paints balanced picture. Going to need to save that for future use.
I believe he was born a Hawkeye fan but graduated from ISU.

He was a WRNL regular.

Didn’t read this post, but he is a smart kid and a good writer.

Tired of the "Our #1 RB and #1 WR were out and we lost our #1 TE in the game" excuses from hawk fans. Most teams adjust. I guess their offensive guru Lester doesn't know how to. MFHFC Kirk "Average Joe" Ferentz continues his "vanilla" style of coaching.
We had a starting OLineman, kick returner, LB (starter?), and Kickoff specialist out off the top of my head. At least two of these impacted the game in very obvious ways. What's their point.

Sure - it's probably both.

Fun fact - Gronowski has played 3 games (all losses) against FBS schools (all Power 5) here's his collective stats:

43-87 (49.4%) 434 yds (144.6/g) 2tds 2ints 9 sacks; 36 rushes for 75 yds and 1 TD

So I take it back, he may be lousy.

Iowa already has the 1st and 5th Big 10 coaches with the most losses, might as well hire the 2nd.

It is kinda interesting that if you include Amos Alonzo Stagg, Kirk Ferentz is several years away from setting the Big 10 record. I mean, Stagg was basically one of the founders of the Big 10. I’m sure they have come up with their excuses to ghost Stagg.

So they're gonna put the coach who holds the record for the greatest number of Big 10 losses in the Big 10 Hall of Fame? Sure, makes total sense.
I am in no way making light of Mike Leach passing because I loved him, but it’ll be funny seeing the asterisks listed in the HOF next to him and Kirk.

Mike Leach *passed away in 2022*
Kirk Ferentz *wasn’t good enough but got in*

If he does get in, they will have to put an * in there for the years of the Big 10 West schedules.

Is it simply because he coached in the predecessor Western/Big 9 Conferences before it was ever called the Big 10? I know the world talks about "Big 12 records" somewhat regularly as if the Big 8 didn't exist beforehand, so I suppose that wouldn't be that unusual.

And let’s not forget their 8 game conference schedule, which allowed them to play three cream puffs in non conference at home every year. The cream puffs gave Ferentz about a quarter to a third of his wins.

Let’s face it, a lot of years it was 4 cream puffs.
