Cyhawk postgame thread

Couldn’t be happier that we pulled it out yesterday, but if there ever was a year to just absolutely bury them, this was it
Look at their depth chart. They exhaust a LOT of eligibility. If I’m Kirk, I achieve my record and bail after this season. If we catch them in a rebuild we could embarrass them on their own field.

Funny how Kirk is on the verge of breaking the record for Big 10 wins when he already owns the record for Big 10 losses.

Takeaways from the game after rewatching:

-Our safeties played really well. Not having to worry about a passing game probably helps but a good sign.
-Bacon and Orange were dominant
-Our OL didn’t play great but they surprisingly dominated Graves who is their best DL
-TEU
-We could have and should have picked on #8 and #41 for Iowa more often. They were pretty bad.
-Heacock is great and I know Kirk runs that offense but I have no idea what their OC was trying to do. The slow mesh stuff is bizarre to implement.
-Gronowski has the worst vision I’ve ever seen from a D1 quarterback.
-We got a really bad whistle.
-Too many commercials.

What positions/areas are these?

I was kind of wanting to see ISU attack the middle of the 2nd level a bit more to keep heading downhill vs. side to side stuff.

Orange being our second leading tackler (6 total) from the NG position in our defense against the vaunted Iowa OL is incredible to see. I’m not sure there was a player in the country that could have blocked him yesterday.

As currently shown on their depth chart they lose:

- 8 of 11 starters on offense
- 7 of 11 starters on defense.
-Their stud kicker
- Wetjen (Kick/Punt returner)

The vast majority of their offensive and defensive lines gone. That is the bread & butter of Iowa football. They will be breaking in a new quarterback as well. Whoof! I like Iowa State's chances of winning 4 of the last 5 in Kinnick next year.

Why is everyone killing Sama. I thought he was just as good as Hanson yesterday and the stats annd eye test show that.

He also didn’t have a potentially back-breaking fumble in our own territory that was fortunate for us to get recovered.

It's one of those 'I'm going to stick to this one player situation being the reason ISU is failing' type of things that happens every basketball season too.

After the first quarter Iowa's run D was very solid and nobody was going to get chunks of yards.

I do like how Hansen can get downhill and crash for a few yards but neither back is a 20 carries/game type and I think they both give needed looks.

The botched kickoff return had potential to really be costly. Getting the ball so close to our endzone was icky.
It cost us at least three points. We drove the ball at least 40 yards if i recall.
