Its fun to joke about the 'curse' but in reality a lot of this is simply those teams not being very good to begin with.

Most of the selection before this year has been one 'big brand' (and historically good) team, and one lesser (and historically bad) team. The lesser team would be expected to lose a bunch of games, and in years where the 'better' team loses in ireland, they lose games because they're simply bad themselves.

I don’t recall Matt Campbell talking about a “curse”

He specifically mentioned it and how even NFL teams struggle after playing in Europe or Brazil.
