Former CycloneChris Babb has signed a new deal with the Boston Celtics.

On Monday, Babb inked a multiyear contract after averaging 15.4 points and 5.5 rebounds so far this season for Boston’s D-League affiliate, the Maine Red Claws. Babb was recently named to the D-League’s All-Star team.

He will finish the season in the D-League but once again compete for a spot on the Celtics main roster during the NBA summer league.

According to the Boston Globe, "The Celtics think highly of Babb, and now they will give him a more thorough look heading into next year. The non-guaranteed deal could also give the franchise more trade flexibility this summer. Regardless, the move is a sign that when there is an opportunity, the Celtics will look to reward players who thrive in the D-League."
