Team Needs….

Busy watching the Duke vs SC Elite 8 game. What blows me away is the speed on both teams from 1-5 and some of the roster depth on these teams.

After watching the Twister Sisters live and on the tube it got me thinking deeply with most of the team sticking around; what does the team need? So here are a few thoughts:

1. Another PF from the transfer portal. We have 3 centers and way too many guards to count. We need another player that can shoot inside, outside, play down low and have some speed. Someone that can both compliment Addy and spell her when she gets in foul trouble.

2. Getting more guards to handle the rock and move the ball around.

3. An updated offense and players that don’t telegraph every single pass. I think of how many games players would stare at Audi in the post waiting to pass to her without looking around.

4. Speed and endurance from the of season program. Time to take the weights off when on the court. We looked so tired by the end of the season.

5. Less feat of shooting g or driving the lane. Emily did that from time to time. Addy does it at times. We need more.

6. An updated offense that is not stare down Audi, or did I already say that? More passes and movement.

7. Finding a better more aggressive defense.

Is that to much to ask?

Items #2 through #7 don’t change until BF and the assistants, outside of Steyer, call it quits, IMO.

Someone should see if you can get the entire South Carolina roster to transfer. And we probably need 10 to 12 mil in NIL. Other than that it seems reasonable, NOT. Remember we are Iowa State in the Midwest, ideally we try to field the best team we can get to come and have them play offense and defense together as a unit.
It would also help to ignore fans with unrealistic expectations!

Van Morrison - Mediocrity

You got to fight every day to keep mediocrity at bay
You got to fight every day to keep mediocrity at bay
Got to fight with all your might not to get in the bleeding heart's way
You got to fight for your rights, you can't bury your head in the sand
You got to fight for your rights, you can't just bury your head in the sand
Politics and religion, superstition go hand in hand
Well you're going through the motions
And they can't hear a word you say
Well you're going through the motions
They don't want to hear a word you say
Got to keep boredom at bay and keep mediocrity away
Got to fight every day to keep mediocrity at bay
Got to fight every day to keep mediocrity at bay
Got to fight with all your might not to get in the bleeding heart's way
Got to fight with all your might not to get in the bleeding heart's way

Not exactly sure.
I had mentioned a PG, besides that I’d like to see as much more speed as possible. I saw maybe 40%-50% of the games so I am far from in the know was others but it seemed we were getting beat down the floor a lot. A small forward or off guard that can fly would help kill break aways and maybe even press a little to slow of the other teams offense.

Jada Williams would be a huge pickup. Just don't see ISU outbidding Iowa or some other program.

We need a lot more than that unless we are getting Paige B from UConn.
I think Jada is the perfect fit. We become an older team for the first time in 3 years and gain a year of team chemistry. I just don't see where else we are upgrading. They just have to cut down on the turnovers a bit and shoot like they are capable of.

PG Jada
SG Hare
SF Joens
PF Brown
C Crooks
6 Jackson
7 Harris
8 Williams/Tualelei
9 Hansford/Wilson

Your list of returners neglects to mention Aili Tanke, nor do you include the recruits, SG Freya Jensen and PG Reece Beaty.

That's 13 players on scholarship, plus Bill reportedly told KJ he expected to sign two players in the portal. That's a full complement of 15, assuming no current players depart via the portal. I think Bill expected some attrition following the year-end meetings and it hasn't happened, which might be hampering his recruiting efforts.

As a closing comment on your anticipated lineup, I have it on good authority CBF does not envision Kelsey starting and he's shared his thoughts on how many minutes she'll play. As I've said multiple times before, she's a great kid, loves her teammates and loves attending Iowa State University.

Portal entry close date is April 23, so gals have three weeks to roll the dice to stay and maybe be recruited over or leave and take a big risk at a new school. For a number of the players that would be a third school, not an attractive option for a lot of college students.

Looking at it, to me it's pretty clear that he envisioned Hare as starter #5, after she went down, he didn't settle on Kelsey until the last month. We have 1 starter spot open right now if that is true.
