Trouble is that football revenue would be shared with basketball to make that lopsided as well. If you could find a way to limit how much is spent on those non-football sports, then maybe. But even if that’s how it starts it will not stay that way. Either the media partners or courts will ruin it. And then once you agree with the alignment to start, you can’t back out when the money gets out of whack.

The point was whether or not they care about sports and they obviously do based on what they offer.
My question is the B1G or SEC done expanding? Will any of the ACC schools leave? It's possible the Big12 becomes the best of the rest conference. What is really interesting do any Big12 schools leave? KU still has an eye on the SEC. CU, UU want the B1G. Cal, Stanford won't stay in the ACC.
ISU won't go to the B1G as much as they'd fit well, but has a very small shot at the SEC only because it's a new state for them. Tech, WVU want the SEC too.
ISU and KU to the SEC would cause a meltdown on here.
I think our best hope is to be in the 3rd best “P” conference. Whether it’s the 5 + 11 or the 4-4-2-2 model or whatever, we will be duking it out for 1 of 2 CFP spots in perpetuity.
We probably have a better shot finishing Top 2 in a conference of peers vs trying to out “eye test” the top 4 of the SEC or B1G. Those leagues will game their schedules to make sure they’re never left out.
Only way it happens is if the B1G goes to 24 and espn forces the SEC to go to 24 as well while giving the SEC the flexibility to add who they want. If you start working through the choices the SEC would be left with in that scenario you can see the argument for ISU and KU. If they decision is to go two 32 team conferences kind of like an NFC/AFC set up all bets are off and ISU could end up in either conference.
Scoring is capped at 14 sports after the required 5.

Yes, I know how it works. The ability to cherry-pick the best scores is a great advantage for an institution that's heavy on niche sports (water polo, women's lacrosse, men's gymnastics, etc.).
I love Stanford for their academics, location, and non-revenue sports. Unfortunately, all this adds up and they could care less about showing up to the football/basketball games or even talking about it in the bars/dorms. Not a Big 12 fit.
Wasn't info on here years ago that showed ISU as a fairly good fit as an SEC school?
Academics and things. IIRC we a decent choice if the league really expanded
True Story: Years ago, I was at a Stanford Football Game (before the stadium reconfiguration) in a Pac-10 game - sitting in some good donor seats. During the early 2nd quarter - I had somebody casually arrive late on my row, and later in the 2nd quarter - somebody left to go to a Water Polo match. The Stanford Way!

While you obviously could have made your point better, doing so didn’t really make it stronger.
No current Big 12 school is going to the SEC or Big 10.

I mean time changes things. Who knows what conferences will look like in 10-20 years.
If Big East wants to expand, but remain largely private/religious, Dayton and Saint Louis work. Butler is non-sectarian. UConn is the only public currently. VCU is public also.
VCU would be the only one I even think has a chance. Long term success in a large market that they aren't in.
Xavier is going to fight against Dayton and SLU is going on two decades of big time underachievement.
Most likely scenario is UConn leaves because of football and they are perfectly happy to stay at their original 10.
