Portable Generators

For sure. The interlock kit prevents that as when installed in place, you physically can't have both breakers on.

Damn this thread. I was going to put in 10 circuit bypass generator box but now and thinking maybe an interlock would do. I have a newer Square D 200 amp so can order an interlock for it. So, now have to ponder some.

So, with a total bypass how do you know when power is back on? See if neighbors are lighted again?

Pretty much, or the street lights if its dark. MidAmerican sends me a text when power has been restored too.

I have a Square D homeline 125 amp, bought the interlock kit off of ebay - it was delivered yesterday. Make sure you get a UL listed interlock, some aren't and I know some electricians won't install it if its not UL listed. also make sure that you know why type of series/type of Square D panel you have.
