totally understand and agree. But When I was in High School golf years ago, and was looking at the USGA definitions for what a pro golfer was, NIL would probably have ended your amateur status. I always maintain that Ken Venturi was a professional and not an amateur because his boss hired him specifically to play golf and not sell cars. However, you are correct. An acknowledgement that no pro sports leagues are made up of 100% single year free agents would go a long way. I go ballistic when people compare this to pro sports, it's nothing like pro sports. Ohtani can't suddenly decide on his own he's going to play for the Yankees a month from now.
Only a matter of time until an NBA journeyman in his mid 30's who can't find a roster spot decides to take another crack at college basketball to keep making some $$.Eventually… any rules that restrict a players ability to earn are going to lose out. Eligibility limits… gone.
Journeyman NBA guys keep getting older, but college girls keep staying the same age...Only a matter of time until an NBA journeyman in his mid 30's who can't find a roster spot decides to take another crack at college basketball to keep making some $$.
Yes, and the next lawsuit will be challenging his ‘years to play’ determination since he didn’t enroll. We should probably start recruiting LeBron and KG.Isn’t this a player who never played college ball?
M guessing 80%+ of the NBA played 3 years or less in college. They should all have eligibility remaining if they want it.Yes, and the next lawsuit will be challenging his ‘years to play’ determination since he didn’t enroll. We should probably start recruiting LeBron and KG.
I think never playing in the NBA, or college… is a pretty big difference than this.I

I don't see why playing in the NBA would be difference than the G-league. I can see never playing in college making a difference. That still leaves like half the league that could play college basketball if they wanted to.I think never playing in the NBA, or college… is a pretty big difference than this.
TT billionaire booster, I think he cares more about collegiate athletics than most.Who?
It's all made up rules. All of the eligibility rules are arbitrary. The previous argument drew a line between being paid and not being paid, and said "there's a boundary we'll use to determine eligibility". Now, that line doesn't exist because people are getting paid on both sides. And as such, the rule doesn't stand up to a scrutiny any more.I think never playing in the NBA, or college… is a pretty big difference than this.
