Dear World...I'd like to apologize...

Forgot about Utah. They might be able to keep up money wise. I wonder the same thing about donor money. How long will they donate? All I know is that Tech has billionaires and BYU has the world wide Mormon Church. They have enough money and people with stupid amounts of money for it to go on for a while.

I think you're right that it just has to be plural people. T Boone Pickens was one dude and it seems his heirs don't want to be college sports GMs.

I think the big 12 conference is very underrated and behren morton is just a trash quarterback. If TTU had a qb and a better offensive playcaller then it would have looked way better. I think there is a crap ton of bias going to the big ten and SEC and the big 12 is the little brother in their eyes when in reality, they are on the rise. The big 12 has some rich schools. Look for Baylor and utah to be on the rise as they are in rich areas, and BYU is the lite version of TTU with as much money and a team on the rise.

The question outside of programs like Ohio State and Notre Dame is how long the money can last or be relied on. If this NIL era was from '97-'07 we might all be talking about how Oklahoma State had the highest payroll in college football and basketball, they did for that time back when it was just rich guys throwing money at facilities and the results were showing on the field for them for a time. That's dried up now more or less, will these weird oil and cookie dudes get tired of playing GM/owner for a team they have no actual equity in?
I wonder this as well. Not only do you have to have billionaire benefactors, but they also need to be fans that are happy with being viewed as a bank.

Once the novelty of "he's great , he's the man" wears off, that money becomes an expectation in the eyes of fans.

I feel like I'd get tired of bankrolling entitled fans after awhile, but I'll realistically never understand what that kind of money does to someone. Maybe it's just how they have fun.

...on behalf of the Big12 conference. Texas Tech's effort today in the Orange Bowl is in no way reflective of how the Big 12 has played this year...our conference is not THIS bad. Thank you for your time.
Arizona State (who had less talent) put up a way better fight.....now Texas Tech's defense is literally national championship caliber but their offense is clearly not. Morton looked AWFUL today.

Let's face it.... the Big 12 sucks. It's why we still could have a chance next year... but it also makes you realize all the missed opportunities we had under Matt too.
I just always find it funny how OU and Texas leaving the Big 12 changed the perception of the conference.

Ignore their logos and tradition for a minute.

Texas, who had every advantage known to man in the Big 12, won the conference four times in their 28 year history in the conference -- that's terrible for the status and power of their athletics department.

OU, they actually ran the conference. They won the conference 14 times in their 28 years in the Big 12.

So my point is, losing OU from a competitive standpoint hurt but not so much Texas -- but the media loves Texas so they conveniently ignore their time underperforming in the Big 12.

Iowa State definitely missed some opportunities with Matt being here as long as he did but we weren't really ever fighting an uneven battle other than OU running the conference.
