I rode that slide once and then my mom heard that some kid sliced their scalp open on a nail. That was the end of the slide for my sister and I.

I'm old enough to remember when they were great (at least in context at the time) and when they slid and slid to really poor.
There are a lot of mexican places these days as compared to 1988.

it seems like there is a Mexican restaurant on every corner here in the Des Moines metro. Adding a chain Mexican restaurant seems like a poor idea. The market is already flooded with a bunch of local options already established.

Plus the trucks.

And speaking of trucks, and maybe a little off rails.....but if anyone is on I40 going west there is a truck right off of exit 153 just west of Albuquerque next to the flying J truck stop called Los Puchunguis.....give it a shot if you are there. You will know it from the 6 square foot speaker booming Mexican music. It beats pretty much anything served up here in central Iowa.

We used to eat at a lotta Ground Rounds and Shoneys in the 80s on vacations in the South.

If they open one in DSM I feel like it would be packed for the first few months because of nostalgia and then no one would go back because they would realize its more expensive and not as good as a half dozen other tex-mex places they could go to easily.
