    Audi Crooks to Transfer

I agree with the general thrust of this. That said, because of the nature of PER (entirely based on box scores), an athlete who is a negative on team defense generally will be overrated by the stat.

    Audi Crooks to Transfer

Some people here are underestimating our offensive prowess last year. Per Warren Nolan, we were 7th in effective FG percentage and 9th in points per 100 possessions -- and that's with Brown out for a few games. Those are better rankings than the men's team on those metrics! Offense wasn't our...

    WBB: 2026 Transfer Portal

Jamie's MO is to hire relatively inexpensive (to start) mid-major coaches: Campbell, Prohm, T.J., Rogers. In today's college sports environment, I can't imagine that changing.

    Bill Fennelly

The difference in the buyout this year and the retention bonus next year is about the difference between Fennelly's salary and the hypothetical salary of, say, a top mid-major coach to replace him. There are other costs associated with hiring, yes, but there's also big savings that would be had...

Going the Hoiberg route, I like your out-of-the box thinking.

    Bill Fennelly

Two things can both be true: Iowa State women's basketball was a laughingstock until Bill came in the '90s, and he deserves a statue on campus for how he raised it out of nothing into something respectable. He is probably not the right person to be leading the program today.

Sorry, correct. So if Kansas drops to a 5, they could be in the same region as ISU/Arizona/Houston.

As a (suburban) Chicagoan, no way. UIUC is somewhat less sport-focused than Iowa State, but that's more than countered by the huge number of UIUC grads in the Chicago area.

Yeah, but No. 1 seeds also have the advantage of being better teams than no. 2-4 seeds...which is a much more impactful factor than the seed line per se.

Oh, absolutely $200 billion+. Wait, we are talking Zimbabwean dollars, right? (Worth about $150 USD upon release.)

Chicago Bears bought Arlington Heights track only to build in Indiana?

Honestly, not that much longer from Halas Hall to Green Bay at that point -- 2 hours 30 or so. As I think I said earlier on this thread, I'm not sure why the Pleasant Prairie area isn't an option if the main goal is not-Illinois. Wisconsin just past the border is much closer to Halas Hall (and...

Yeah, I wanted the ability to see that visually a couple years ago, so I wrote some Python code then to do it. Turned out pretty well, I think.

    Rate the States

Looking at College Poll Archive, AP-ranking-wise, we're number 3 behind Sparty and Ohio State since 2000. Starting at 1980...actually, the same. OK State's number 4 in both.
