    I wouldn't be surprised if we win it. ISU is usually ahead of other teams on playing defense at the outset because of its emphasis. Also, we have 5 players returning who already know what the coaches want on D and O, so the team should jell more quickly than most other teams.

    That's why I think Heise's commitment is so important. He will give our other guards more rest than they got last year. It'll all pay off at crunch time.

    Agree. At this point, Jefferson probably has the edge on defense and Milan on offense. Hopefully, Milan gets better on D with added strength/weight, but I can see both on the court at the same time. Great problem to have.

    Blocking shots is only one part of playing defense, but being in the right position and timely rotations are as important, if not more so. Combined, our 3 bigs averaged 2.3 blocks/game last year. Jefferson/Jackson/Chatfield: 2.1. Also, I expect Rock to be a better blocker than any of them...

    Heise will play more minutes than Paveletzke and is bigger, more athletic, and more experienced, a clear upgrade. Jackson is also a clear upgrade offensively in the middle.
