Burt Grossman is from Philly, and went to HS near where I grew up. He's also the cousin of Temple great Randy Grossman. He went to Pitt before I was born, and I'm almost 32. Pitt's campus is undoubtedly nicer than then. I've never heard anyone call that campus a dump. -

The worst part, the Badlands isn't really that close to campus. I think it starts two stations north of Cecil B. There's definitely poor areas and public housing right off campus, but it's definitely safe. You can avoid anything pretty easily by staying around campus and taking the subway or... -

He's also minutes from Center City, where I live, and everywhere else in Philly that isn't exactly bad. Plenty of suburban white kids like me graduate from Temple without issue. He'll be fine. All of our games are on national TV.
