B12 EADA Earnings: What does ISU need to do?

I think this a great idea! However, I'm concerned that all the Hawk fans in the state government will set up some sort of allocation where ISU gets screwed!

B12 EADA Earnings: What does ISU need to do?

Regardless of the accuracy of the chart, I have full faith in our new university president will move us up the list and fairly quickly! His last school was a masters class in how to fundraise for athletics when you don’t really have much to work with.

    TJ signs 10 year extension

I do not think TJ would have taken the extension at any price if the resources to win were not there.

    TJ signs 10 year extension

Isn’t TJ friends with the Albaugh family? That could help more than anything in the current environment for retention. Whoever the donor(s) are: Thank You!!!!!

    Athletic Dept deficits

I hate to say it but the bachelor grads are not what they used to be. Much easier to get through than when I was there in the Stone Age. My wife deals mainly with fresh ISU grads in her job, some are pretty bad unfortunately. There are of course very good ones too. They just don’t flunk...

Williams & Blum: More Cyclone Therapy

I don't think Cook's potential impact is being fully understood today. Looking at the huge amount of money Cook and the university raised/got pledged/reallocated for the NDSU football team is rather amazing when you research it. I'm very excited to see what he can do down here in a much more...

Read everything Jamie Pollard said in his statement regarding both basketball programs

Do I need to make it simpler for those of you who process more slowly and are living in the last decade? Your response may take the cake for dumb! This happens all the time to CEOs. They may have made a company 100's of millions, but the minute they look stagnant, out the door they get...

Read everything Jamie Pollard said in his statement regarding both basketball programs

The more I hear JP talk, the more I think it's time he gets the McCarney treatment: "We greatly thank you for all you have done here, but we need someone to take us to the next level...." You can appreciate someone's accomplishments and still need new leadership for the next phase.

BREAKING: UNI hires Kyle Green as head coach

Honestly, assistants moving directly to HC jobs is great. It means that we have a strong coach. This should really be a goal as much as it hurts...

    Athletic Dept deficits

Yes that’s correct we have to have them. I never said to get rid of them. What I was getting at is the university needs to pay for them. Football and Men’s basketball should not be expected to pay the way of Olympic sports. In the modern era those need to be covered by the general operating...

Rick Barnes and the Tennessee AD

I read this to mean that all ADs need to be innovative and have adaptive vision, like Yormark has, and not just be financial bean counters…

ISU MBB coaches in NCAA sweet 16

You'd better ask the AD that extended his contract while we were slding backwards that question...

    Athletic Dept deficits

If you look at ISU financial numbers(and many other D1 schools), Football and Mens basketball can carry their own weight even in the modern NIL era. The problem isn't NIL, it is asking the athletic department to support all the other money-losing sports that are really only around to...

Iowa State cancels remaining gymnastics season

Yes Title iX is mandatory, but their is a lot of money spent beyond the requirements of IX.

Iowa State cancels remaining gymnastics season

I totally agree with you. I more think the conversation will shift at many universities to how much academics values being well rounded in Olympic sports and what value they put on it. Unfortunately football and men’s basketball can’t be made to shoulder the financial weight of others...

Iowa State cancels remaining gymnastics season

Understand your point. However, we are fully funding the $20 million with savings, so any cuts from Olympic sports can go towards the long-term shortage JP keeps talking about. Then of course there is the over the cap money that some schools are playing with as well.

Iowa State cancels remaining gymnastics season

This is certainly true with JP, but the X countrybudget needs a hard look by football and mens BB fans. In 2025, ISU spent over $5 million on cross country. We can't cut the teams, but we also don't need to be competitive in Olympic sports. Think about if we could take $4 million of that...
