WBB: General All-NCAA Thread - Not Team Cyclones Stuff

The turnover in starters from this season to next could be the best thing for them. I would expect anyone who played beside CC for 2+ years would need to adjust their game quite a bit with a new PG and new offensive system that doesn't have one player taking a large portion of the shots. With...

Time for a Real Discussion About Caitlin Clark

I’ve contributed to this thread a lot but I agree with this. It’s time to move on. She’s no more relevant to ISU than Luke Garza at this point. I honestly would not have known she was on SNL had I not seen it on CF.

I bought their dust collection system a couple years ago and have been happy with it. It was 1/2 or maybe even 1/3 the price of the name brand version. I think it’s slightly louder but it works just fine for this hobbyist.

A BBC story with the headline “Iowa State to retire Clark’s number 22”

    Well, it's finally over

Are we sure they aren’t correct? Perhaps the entire state of Iowa is going to retire the number 22. Ts and Ps to anyone living along Hwy 22.

This is where Staley is elite. I'm not convinced she's a great coach from a strategy standpoint, but there's no doubt in my mind she's an exceptional recruiter. When she took over in 2008, SC hadn't been to the tourney since 2003 and never gone further than the elite 8 (and they only made that...

    Well, it's finally over

She did her usual theatrics early in the game. She got fouled on a three (legitimately) but it was not a hard foul at all. She fell to the ground and grabbed her head as if Lee Harvey was in the stands. Everyone in the stadium stood up and held hands as both teams prayed over her. She rose from...

They showed that replay like 10 times when recapping the game at various points. Never once mentioned the egregious two-handed shove. At one point, Lobo even added “look how she uses her body to create space.”

Iowa with only 18 minutes (Fuerbach with 5, Ogrady with 13) contributed by their bench. Bold strategy against a team that plays 9 deep.

Iowa within striking distance. Anybody’s game, unfortunately. SC needed a 15 pt+ lead going into the 4th. Now it’s a dog fight to win.

Not doing any of the things UCONN did. Pick her up full court. Stop her from going left. Not even trying that right now.

Also a good point - Iowa has been here before. Very few of the SC players were on the team last year that lost to Iowa so this is new for them. One thing I could see working to Iowa's advantage is SC playing tight; trying to play the perfect game and destroy them rather than do what's needed to...

Time for a Real Discussion About Caitlin Clark

UCONN made enough mistakes and Iowa didn't make enough mistakes to turn the game in UCONN's favor. Iowa struggled mightily early on but UCONN did not build a lead. To me, that game was about Iowa doing just enough to win and UCONN doing just enough to lose. If UCONN was hot offensively in the...

She’s crazy athletic. But she does make some silly mistakes on the offensive end every game. Plus she can compound those mistakes by immediately fouling when she gets the ball stolen.

I don't disagree with a thing you said. I also thought Iowa would lose a long time ago in this tournament and they've kept proving that wrong. I'm not rooting for them, but clearly my cardinal & gold glasses are keeping me from seeing something. One variable that will be interesting to watch...

the UCONN game is over. Iowa plays for the championship tomorrow. Now the question becomes: can Staley actually strategize to win? Or will Iowas coaches nuke their talent advantage like last year? SC is a better team than last year. They can shoot the three and Cardoso has developed some nice...
