Serious Question: How does ISUs football recruiting look so far?

I suspect we will be in the same boat as before 3 star recruits and transfers have to be developed and coached up. I have zero expectation of what we will see. It will be interesting.

Heard an interesting proposal - NIL luxury tax

Valid points. I suspect more limits and restrictions would serve to benefit the traditional cheaters who would find off the books ways to pay athletes.

Heard an interesting proposal - NIL luxury tax

Perhaps the way to solve that is what Cincinnati did. They are going to get a million of Texas Tech's oil money.

Heard an interesting proposal - NIL luxury tax

That's true. I suspect the Big 10 and SEC would work "behind the scenes" to stop it. I think the athletes are not the only ones getting paid. SEC got 14 schools in the big dance last year. Texas and OU were 6-12 in the conference and got in. This year the SEC isn't good but projections are...

Heard an interesting proposal - NIL luxury tax

I agree but Mississippi is apparently passing a law exempting athletes from paying tax on NIL. If other states follow that would put ISU at a disadvantage.

Heard an interesting proposal - NIL luxury tax

Similar to MLB's luxury tax. I didn't hear details but the theory sounds interesting.

Cincinnati sues QB for transferring to Texas Tech

I would envision the buyouts going to players already on the team who start as 3 start and develop into very good players. They get a significant boost to NIL contingent upon signing the buyout.

Cincinnati sues QB for transferring to Texas Tech

Perhaps the lawyers work for the school?

Cincinnati sues QB for transferring to Texas Tech

They appear to be suing for $1 million of Texas Tech's money with the QB being the middle man. Imagine how much Penn State would have paid us if we had similar contracts in place.

Cincinnati sues QB for transferring to Texas Tech

https://www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/48035774/cincinnati-sues-sorsby-1m-exit-fee-texas-tech-transfer Apparently they had a $1 million exit fee in his deal and he didn't pay it. Perhaps we should do something similar. Texas Tech reportedly paying him $4 to $6 million. Somebody in...

Iowa State's defensive staff is "fired up" to field a "violent" unit this fall

I didn't know that. He replaced Widenhofer who also never had a winning season. Widenhofer replaced Warren Powers who never had a losing season until his final season when his non-conference schedule was Illinois, Wisconsin, Notre Dame and Mississippi State. The grass isn't always greener.

    Campbell help Rogers with roster

I would have said thanks but no thanks. Rogers should decide that for himself.

Iowa State's defensive staff is "fired up" to field a "violent" unit this fall

I'm not a fan of schools that talk smack so much as teams that let the performance to the talking. Missouri had a coach named Bob Stull who never had a winning season but his players talked more smack than any team I've seen. Anybody can talk. Be good at football.

I don't follow the portal goings and comings closely

Thanks. I'm guessing the 3 star players who left will be replaced with 3 star players transferring in. 2026 will be an interesting season. Don't know what to expect.

I don't follow the portal goings and comings closely

Have any of the players who entered the portal changed their mind and if so did we take them back?

Groundbreaking defensive coordinator Jon Heacock has "officially retired a Cyclone!"

I assumed he had gone to Penn State with Campbell. Was he offered the DC job and turned it down or did he not want to go through a rebuild?

Matt Campbell future return to Ames

I wonder how they will stack up against other transfers on the depth chart. Best case would be we skim the best of Washington State's roster and fill most of the starting spots with better transfers. 2025 Washington State would have likely finished last in the Big 12.

Matt Campbell future return to Ames

We also have 10 from Washington State.

Matt Campbell future return to Ames

That's a valid point. I retract my statement. He should stay away.
