    KXNO Sports Fanatics

I am stunned by the number of people that don’t seem to get this.

Tre King replacement, possibly with upgrade shooting.

    Jamie Pollard on KXNO today

Tinsley. His NBA career was full of, um, interesting tidbits.

I’m the same. There are several obvious candidates, but no one that I’d consider a lock. If history is any indication, there will be at least 3 transfers out, and at least one of them will be a surprise. We’re probably a year away from worrying about early entries to the NBA, but we’re back to...

    Keshon Gilbert — Iowa State

There is (understandably) so much “coach-speak” from players. It’s the moments like this (or Omaha’s face just lighting up when CW asked him about Hilton South) that I love.

The bolded is absolutely correct, but matchups matter the other way, too. A 6’8” shooter at the 3 causes all sorts of problems for opposing coaches. I think Milan can provide valuable minutes at the 4, especially if we’re running 3 guards with Tamin, Gilbert, and Jones. But I’d rather have him...

Tough day for EIU hoops hopes

The NCAA bought the NIT in 2005. Looking through that lens, everything (including the stupid P6 auto bids) makes sense.

Tough day for EIU hoops hopes

The top 2 teams, by NET, in each major conference that miss the NCAAs get an auto-bid and the right to host. As of today, Northwestern and Ohio State are 52 and 53 in NET, so there’s a real chance Iowa could miss out.

    Cytown Update

The problem is that the city (wisely) won’t let anyone put a driveway on that stretch of Lincoln Way because of the pedestrian traffic. I got bored and started digging - Randall gave up and sold to another developer in February, 2020. Guessing the, uh, unexpected economic changes slowed things...

    Downtown Ames

Same developer (or one of them) that is doing the commercial project on Dayton and the Industrial development on East Lincoln Way. He’s got his hands in a few other things as well. I hate that Hunziker and Fredrich have a stranglehold on the town, but there’s definitely enough political capital...

I will not be tuning in to the two dudes screaming, “Pay attention to meeeeeeee…” I’ve got kids. It would be redundant.

    Bigs for next year?

Nah, if he can be consistent from 3, he is a prototype 3-and-D NBA wing. Defends 1 through 4, rebounds, spaces the D and buries short corner 3s. I don’t know if he can be a good enough shooter, but if he can, look out.

    Bigs for next year?

    And also a lottery pick.

    Bigs for next year?

I think this is correct. He’s already proven he can be a valuable 7/8th man on a Top 10 team and does multiple things well. I’d love to have him back next year because I think there’s a big leap coming after his first year at a high-major level. But if he wants to go mid-major for more minutes...

So now we’re just pretending Conditt didn’t exist? Edit to add that the Covid year really screws with the definition of “full eligibility,” but expecting someone that has already played for 4 years to stay seems like moving the goalposts. Er… backboard.

    Lipsey

I haven’t rewatched, and my spot in Hilton maybe doesn’t give the best perspective, but I’d agree and add: it seemed like he actually slowed down and was deliberate in getting to the rim with purpose, instead of blowing into traffic, chucking a circus shot, and hoping for a whistle. It helped...

Melvin Ejim is part of the 2024 ISU Hall of Fame class!

He’s also not 6’10”. Seems pretty clear cut to me.

Second half was the first time he’s looked like himself, at least on the offensive end, in at least a few weeks. Not sure what changed, but it was good to see.

I can not imagine any scenario in which this staff, or even Tamin, would be ok giving an inch of room to K-State. That said, would be nice to see some big minutes for the CEO on Saturday.

    Tang gonna Tang

I think with NIL, we are seeing a lot of formerly great recruiters struggle when faced with competition. Charisma/personality matter, but it takes away a big advantage when everyone else can offer a bag, too. And now if a player decides all the promises were hollow (or their tired of losing)...
