Marine Corps birth (think tavern and booze)

Five days late for the 250th anniversary birth of the Marine Corps, but just now tripped across this video about the Corps's creation. Thought Marines here and citizens who appreciate them might be interested. If a citzen is allowed to say so, Semper Fi!

icymi - Ken Burns' American Revolution series in November

Burns is a fascinating person to listen to. Particularly at the 5:25-5:50 mark. (I posted this in off topic, hoping it won't go political, meaning more people will become aware of the series.)

At the Big 12 press event last week, when asked to single out youngsters impressing, the first name out of CMC's mouth was Ryver Peppers. Personally, I've been wowed by Ryver since watching his film at the time of his commitment in the winter. CMC mentioned him during spring ball, too, iirc...

It’s my habit to watch four scenes from the movie 1776 on July 4th then follow with a toast (one, or maybe more, beers). Thought I would post here should anyone be of similar mood. The fireplug: John Adams. May 1776 no movement toward independence vote. 'Open Up A Window' is a reference to...

Russian couple walks their dog and 'cat'

I've been watching this couple's videos about their animals for awhile now, particularly interested in the panther, which they've had since she was a kitten. Here, also, I enjoyed a look at the Russian winter terrain - pretty. Hope someone enjoys it. (Is the dog a Rotweiller?)
