I’m sure there are plenty of folks on here working on some project vehicles. I haven’t had any vehicle projects since before the kids until now. I got talked into a 1993 F250 460 that an extended family member had parked for the last 6 years. Bought it for cheap and have been running it around.

So far -
Front fuel tank
Fuel Pump/Sender Assembly
Fuel Filter
Oil Change
Tranny Fluid
Coolant Flush
Power Steering Fluid
Deep Clean

Up next is some paint work and more cleaning. The 8’ bed has already come in handy.

What are your projects?
 
Youngest daughter is finishing up year 2 at ISU. When she's done and off the payroll, I'm getting a 1979 Chevy K5 Blazer and having it fixed up and restored. Two-tone exterior color. Bench seats front and back.

Have one when you were younger? I feel like I lean towards the vehicles I had in my younger years. My first car was a 93 Ranger which is the same year as this truck.

I also went through about 6-8 Jeeps over that time period after getting my license and it makes me absolutely long for another TJ wrangler. This was my absolute baby I sold when my first kid was born. I never should have sold it for as cheap as I did. I sold this and a 95 Silverado as a package deal for like 6 grand. Granted the Chevy was a POS.

No, but a buddy of mine had a '76 GMC Jimmy that we double-dated in for Homecoming during HS. I always loved that ride. I did have a '92 Blazer at one point. I just always wanted a mid- to late-70s K5, they were so cool. Not sure what two-toned scheme I'd go with, maybe a matte black and wood tone or something. Maybe yellow out the headlights. This one looks badass...

I'm surprised thread this hasn't got more traction. I'll post mine up. I bought this 1969 Mach 1 Mustang in 2005. It's an original 390 big block car. Was working on it pretty steady before I got married but didn't have a place of my own to work on it so it sat in my grandparents shed and I was driving 3 hours down there about twice a month to work on it. Then I got married and started going once a month. Then I had my first son and it turned into once every 2-3 months. Then we had our second son and it turned into never. Fast forward to last fall and the big kid is off in college and the youngest isn't super involved in extracurriculars so I have some free time again and a garage big enough for a project. So I brought it home in October and been chipping away at it all winter. Since I got it home I've put all new brake lines on it, got the fuel tank installed, put in a hydraulic clutch master cylinder and got the heater box all cleaned up and ready to go in. Next up is to get a brake booster so the master cylinder can go in and I'll have functioning brakes. Currently I'm on the hunt for a good 390 to start a build with, they're getting hard to find because all the guys who were into FE series big blocks are dying off. I thought I had a line on one yesterday actually, found a guy in town who died and his son was selling off his hoard. Was getting ready to go look at a couple complete engines when he messaged and said somebody bought the whole stash of engines and parts our from under me.

Don't hate me too much but I grew up a Mizzou fan. I wanted a bright color that wasn't red and I had that combo in my head since I was about 16 so when I painted it I picked the color that was in my mind for over 10 years at that point. If I was starting over though it would probably be a grabber blue color.

Back in the '90s there was a Datsun 240Z rusting away on the street in my neighborhood. I became obsessed with buying it, but the old lady wouldn't sell it. The car hadn't moved in 19 years, so it was actually a good thing that i didn't end up with it. Instead I ended up buying a 1972 240z in good condition. Did some work on it, drove it for a few years, and then sold it. I guess that is when i became a Datsun guy. I ended up replacing the 240z with a 1978 B210. Fixed it up, converted from auto to 5-speed, and drove it for many years. Said i would never sell it. But eventually it ran its course and I sold it and replaced it with this latest project (1985 720).

Last night I was in the process of installing a new stereo system in it. Pulled up the carpet to run some speaker wire and ran into a major rust problem. After cleaning up the metal around it, it appears to be limited to a small area, but it's all around where the cab mounts to the frame. Passenger side is the same. Stereo project turned into something much bigger.

Ok more mustang pictures.
First picture is what it looked like when I bought it. The car had been in a fire and the roof was in bad shape. The guy I bought it off of had cut it off, and found a donor for a good roof but never fully attached it.

The floor pans where also in pretty rough shape.

The floor pan replacement wasn't so bad but that roof was a challenge. Luckily one of my grandpa's friends was an old school hot rod guy and came by to help with that. He taught me how to torch weld using an old coat hanger as filler rod and that's how we welded a new roof on my car. The roof itself once weld on was hail damaged so it took months of work to get that sorted out but finally it got flat enough to paint.
 
Owned this 1967 Chevelle Malibu since 2006. Bought as a roller and put a crate motor in and drove it occasionally till 2018. During that time redid the rear end and put in 4 wheel power disc brakes. Between 2018 and 2023 did a frame off rebuild. Ended up putting a new crate motor in in spring 2025 so it was less a fire breathing monster and more conducive to cruising around. Nothing rare or valuable about it other than to me. Its not an SS but I put on an SS hood because I liked the look better.

Just drove this car home yesterday. 1960 Austin Healey Bugeye Sprite. 3.5 years in the making. It was my grandfather’s car. It’s 98% done. I need to finish up some dash wiring, the heater, the speedometer, the headlights don’t switch to bright, the horn doesn’t work. The guy following me home said I got up to 52mph so don’t take this car if you’re in a hurry. LoL! It is Cyclone red!! We used the color codes off cyclones.com for the paint.

This seems like as good a place to ask as any, lets say I scratched the side of my car to hell over about a foot-long line. Hard plastic met car, left scuffs and a good scratch line that I can feel with my fingernails. Quick scrubbing with a tough sponge got some but not all of it off. Should I pull up for something like this right away, or say screw it and seek out a pro shop?

Should I pull up for something like this right away, or say screw it and seek out a pro shop?
If it were me, id spend the $25 before letting a body shop tell me it will cost $250 to touch up the area, then another $1k to blend the paint with the surrounding areas.

Honestly if you got most of it with a sponge, maybe try a buffing wheel or something?

That stuff kind of sucks but a lot of times you can just buff out those scratches. You'll need a power buffer and a little bit of knowledge to do it though.

My concern is that I scuffed it too deep to get it out easily, but I figure I might as well try the easy option before going to the hard and expensive one. No real risk involved.
