Prior to last nights game I listed what I felt were the “must do's” for a win to happen:

The must do's...
1. Play good defense and limit fouls
2. Rebound and don't give second chances
3. Hit your open shots.
4. Make your free throws.

well…IMO the only one they remotely did was #2. Complete overwhelming failure on #’s 3 and 4. #1 was rather suspect…especially in the second half.

The bench needs to contribute more as well. 0 points from players 6-8 isn't going to win enough games to have the season they want.

1a. Screen and move the defense
1b. Move your feet on the perimeter to relocate (also moves the defense)
1c. Pass out of double teams

The four "do's" that were necessary to produce a win are always necessary if your'e playing a team with a pulse. If a team is ranked around 175 or so it may not exactly matter how well you look on paper. It helps too if you don't have 15 turnovers. And believe it or not, the way a coach handles in game decisions can affect the outcome more than anything.

Regarding bench contributions, I find that a bit comical. Watch the bench players when they come in. Diew and MEM get parked in the corner. Kane's only job would appear to be screening. It's hard to get a bunch out of the bench when they aren't given roles in the offense.

We only subbed 21 minutes. MEM 11 minutes, Kane/Jordao 8 minutes. Not even going to count Diew's token 2 minutes. Other than Maggie no one was really in the game enough to expect them to score much. Versus UNC MEM and Diew played 41 minutes. Kane/Jordao weren't in there like last year, as part of the set, they were just in there to give Soares a breather, or so it seemed. With the team struggling your subs in the post on a guard team aren't likely to be the ones bailing you out.
