December 19, 1987
Ames102–100 OT
December 14, 1991Ames98–84

December 12, 2014
Iowa City90–75

Of course, every single win over the Hawkeyes is amazing but these games always stuck with me.

Memorable mentions from each game:

1.December 10, 1985: Johnny's best team ever absolutely dominates the Hawkeyes in Hilton. This Hawkeye team includes several future NBA stars and even makes a run to the Elite 8 the following year.

2. December 19, 1987: The Lafester Rhodes 54-point game won in OT. Rhodes simply could not miss that night. Famous Johnny quote about Rhodes during the game, "Don't take him out of the game. Keep him in there until he dies!"

3. December 14, 1991: Thigpen, Hoiberg and company crush the Hawkeyes in Hilton. Great Hoiberg dunk on Acie Earle.

4 December 12, 2014: It's Iowa's year finally they will win but instead they are run out of their own gym and Naz gives a great pose next to Mad Fran after burying a three.

I'm not sure how you don't include last year's.

After the ass-kicking Iowa had given the previous three years and the dirty culture of their program, that was very satisfying to see them get physically overwhelmed by a team that didn't have to do anything special in doing so.

The year Utoff went off in the first half, and then was shut down in the second as part of a huge comeback. This was also the game with the Monte floater in the final seconds I believe.

What made that great was all the trash Aaron White was spewing on Twitter. And then promptly deleted it at the end of the game.

I didn't mention last year's game so as not to jinx this year's game. Last time I did that it was a pretty bad loss.

In no particular order:

1. Watching Gessell miss two free throws as the Hilton floor shook.
2. Uthoff's dominating first half and non existent second half.
3. The Niang kiss game. We were up 20-25 most of that game and the 90-75 score did not tell the story.
4. The Jon Neal game
5. TJ's first beatdown over Fran.

HM: The Scotty thug game.

Good list.

I might add at Iowa Dec. 4, 1984 (W 54-50) ... I think that's the game ISU bolted to like a 12-0 lead ... although ended up being tight, winning at IC while the program being on upsurge was cool.

This for me. Last year was so refreshing for the reasons you describe. The ladies won the previous night, which ended quite a lengthy slide in the Cy-Hawk series overall, and then the night after, our guys ended 3 straight years of getting dominated by Luka Garza and Joe Wieskamp. I am not sure what it was about Prohm, but he really never had our guys ready for that game. I know he won it in 2017, but both teams were pretty lousy that year.

The little Hassel "skit" on the post game was pretty good too.
Pretending to have not seen the second half and asking what Uthoff finished with. 50? 60?
