Xavier Hutchinson is leading the FBS in receptions (and it’s not even close)

He’s now at 57 receptions.

The next closest? Charlie Jones with 50.

He’s also 9th in receiving yards and Tied 19th for receiving TD’s with 5.

I know that drop the other night was bad. But honestly we’re wearing him out. He’s putting it all out there this year and the stats show it.

Crazy! Hutch is exceptional at getting open in the 5-12 yard range, even when the defense knows he is the primary target on almost all passing plays. Crisp cuts and routes. Almost too good because Deckkers fixates on him even when he is well covered.

Hate to think how much worse our offense would look without him. Dekkers needs to find another weapon or 2 else teams are just going to double up X and force him to find another target else throw into double coverage

Two weekends ago when I was watching the KU game with some neutral strangers, I mentioned he was an all Big Xii caliber receiver and could be an All-American. One guy looked at me with the WTF look? Maybe the All-American potential is a strecth, but if he continues to lead the country in receptions, why not!

A lot of these awards and honors help when your team is winning. Just look at Troy Davis as an example as he should have won a Heisman. When you play for a winning team you usually get recognition when awards are handed out.

That's true, but Troy was a two time First team All-American, and a two-time Heisman Finalist. He was runner up to a QB who set records (Danny Wuerffel) in 1996. So, he wasn't totally unrecognized. Solid point though.

And he is up to 3rd in yardage!

I assume he ia shoe-in as First Team All Big Xii, but I wonder if he will make an All-American team or two? Additionally, it would be fantastic if he could be a Biletnikoff Finalist.

He won't make all American. He's on a bad team.

This isn't the brag that it might seem. You said it best - we are wearing him out. The fact that he is targeted so much is not the sign of a balanced and good offense. He is 100% giving his all and is a great Cyclone. But there is no way in heck in a functional offense the numbers are this out of wack. The fact that we can't run and at times Dekkers locks in on him and only him - is driving the numbers up

Well you see what happened Saturday when they started targeting Dimitri Stanley multiple times...Absolute disaster.
