UNI win would mean state school sweep

Neither program is where they’ve been in the past, but I really like a lot of pieces CJL has on this squad. I like the Clones 3-1 with another set 2 loss.

All for that but we need to win set 1 first. Behind 18-15.

If we’re not focused, this will be over before we get started.

So can someone tell me more about our team? Sorry will be 100% honest never paid any attention to our volleyball team before but my wife pulled it up one night and that's what we have been watching during the week (when football isn't on) to cheer on our Clones.

We are down 17-8 in the 4th. Geez @CY9008 I was counting on your prediction, but so far it’s been the opposite.

Tonight was not good at all. Holthaus had a negative hit %. Newsome was benched due to poor play as CJL went back to a 5-1 and played Brandt instead. The team overall hit .108 while UNI was at .224. CJL had to substitute freely in order to find positive production. 14 players made an appearance while UNI played nine. Hatch, Stonestreet and Krzeslak weren't suited up, I presume due to injury. I was able to watch only the first 3 sets and it appears I didn't miss much in the 4th. I have not yet seen a link to CJL's post game presser, one would assume she would display a high degree of frustration after tonight's debacle.

UNI is okay but this group is not as good as their Sweet 16 teams. If ISU doesn't makes significant improvement in their final 3 non con matches, there is no way they finish .500 or better in conference play. As it stands now, they will need to finish at least 3rd to sniff the NCAAs and beat the likes of Texas, Baylor and KU perhaps at least twice out of those 6 matches.

Very young team. They have played the best when they have run a 6-2 that I have seen in limited viewing. I turned it on watched half of one set and thought this is not going to end well I turned it off.

After seeing the thread title I could have easily predicted this outcome. I would think ISU fans had learned their lesson about this stuff by now. :mccaffery:

I don't think the youth of the team can be used to explain the lackluster play given the returning experience with top players like Holthaus and Newsome and others like Thomas, Shannon, Hatch, Mantz, Englebrecht, etc.

There is certainly some promising looking freshmen like Duckworth, Perry and Brandt but there is no question that recruiting overall has recently tailed off. And I think one can certainly question the conditioning of the team when compared to other programs and it appears that player development once in the program can also be questioned (and this was previously a strength of the program).
