Dear Florida: Jamie Pollard is savage

The point is well made...the SEC plays a schedule that is advantageous to them in getting to the playoffs...one less opportunity to lose. They (SEC) are taking advantage of the system...within the rules, of course.

Or... since the vaunted SEC continues to play powder puff teams 4 times a year, plus their two bye weeks, maybe every conference should do the same. Resting starters throughout the season like the SEC does with these games would surely help the B12's odds at the end of the season.

Love this from JP but the biggest reason the SEC should be playing a 9 game conference schedule is so their teams can actually play the other teams in their league. Having to wait 8-10 years between games against league opponents is just dumb.

Also, bring the gators here JP, we ain't afraid.

Better yet, dump Iowa to get Florida.

Still mind boggling to me why college football hasn't made this change.

All conferences should have the same number of conference games. The SEC has 14 freaking teams....only has to play 8 so you can easily have paper tigers.

Also, the whole schedule a cupcake in November is ridiculous as well.

Yep. Preferably in late October to November.

I disagree with the bold. I think we should play Iowa as the last game of the year. My Sr. year was 911 and the Iowa game got moved to the Saturday after Thanksgiving and it was awesome.

If I remember correctly, the motivation for a lot of conferences to move to a 9 game conference schedule was forced by the television networks. This extra game allowed conferences to receive more money as a result. For some reason, the SEC has been able to avoid this from their television partners. Maybe in their next go around they will be forced in to a 9 game conference schedule.

Additionally, I think the real crime here is that the SEC doesn't get punished in rankings for 1) playing a third cupcake, and 2) get punished for playing and winning against weaker opponents later in the season. Even if they win, the result should lower their rankings (if they are ranked) due to playing a weaker opponent when everyone else is playing a stronger conference opponent.

Most teams play that third cupcake late so while other teams are losing a tough ranked game, the SEC teams get bumped up in rankings.

We have seen with the TOE how lame a schedule can be just because of divisions. Can you seriously be in the SEC and not play Alabama for 8 years? Incredible.

Here is the 2019 version of the SEC Fake ID....Missouri.

Their SEC West opponents this year are Mississippi and Arkansas. They miss all four of the best West division teams: Alabama, LSU, Auburn and Texas A&M.

Even with a cake schedule, Missouri has already lost to Wyoming and sadsack Vanderbilt, so they are not even good at pulling the Fake ID.

Alabama played Georgia Southern the same week we knocked #2 OK St out of the title game.
