Possibly the most “definitive” CVB album in its initial run, good mix of experimental/psychedelia & straight-ahead pop leanings. (Contains a solid cover of "Interstellar Overdrive," which I won't include here).







Cool album-closer … Among other lyrical gems: “I’ve got a dollar-15 and nothing better to do // I’ve got a half-tank of gas and nowhere to go.”

Featured in the movie Ferris Bueller's Day Off, it was also re-released by Capitol that year (1986). It reached #23 on the charts that fall.

I saw the film on the last night of RAGBRAI in Washington, Iowa. There was some trouble with the projector/projectionist, as I recall. It was a typical RAGBRAI evening and it was nice to spend a couple hours in the A/C.

I had been wanting to see the film anyway...

The death of D. Boon brought an unexpected end to Minutemen, but bassist/singer/songwriter Mike Watt and drummer George Hurley formed Firehose soon after, with Ed Crawford (aka Ed fROMOHIO) as guitar/vocals/songwriter. This is the debut.
