***Jack Trice Stadium/Hilton Coliseum alcohol sales thread***

I mean, changing the rules costs $0. Adding concessions and/or completely redesigning the concourse costs a lot.

You also are not taking into the account that the concourse, concessions, bathrooms have had significant upgrades over the years. Is more needed, probably, but there have been improvements there.
I'm really referring to how concessions are ran. If they would hire a competent staff and train them accordingly, everything would run as well as it does at all the other venues I've been to. It's pathetic how long it takes to get the most insigificant orders.

Not what I said, but read it how you want.
You're trying to say that the "Weed Culture" has completely consumed Colorado and it's awful for it. And that to me sounds like a comment from someone who obviously doesn't live in the state. Perhaps you should venture further than Manitou Springs... a sh1tty tourist town who's income has been drying up for years. There is SO much more of the state to see.

What's the over/under on # of states that legalize that recreationally before iowa?

Guessing about half have it legal now. The THC drinks are legal at bars now so you can get up to 5grams of THC. Which is great since I can only drink two anyway. Guessing the next gov of Iowa makes it legal. Regardless of which side wins.

Dont know if it is still the case but some of the concessions used to be volunteer run. I volunteered for a couple games when I was in school. And I tell you they just basically throw you at it without really knowing anything or what to do.

But I can tell you that is not really different at most venues I have been to. Concessions never run smoothly. And at times like halftime etc when they get overwhelmed it always takes a long time everywhere.

I am sure some things could be done, but there is only so much without infrastructure improvements and better staff.

But how many times has your grubhub etc order been wrong. How many times has your drive thru order been messed up. How many times have you sat for a long time waiting in a drive thu or line at the counter of a fast food restaurant. Those are staffed by regulars, that have training etc and still have a lot of issues. And they are specifically designed for fast service. So I expect you will always have issues at concessions especially when they get overwhelmed all at one time.

Best advice I can give you is avoid going during halftime. I honestly have never had that much trouble or had it take that much time, but I never go during halftime. Most of the time if I run and grab something mid game I can walk right up to the counter order and be headed back to my seat in no time.

I said SOME areas of Colorado. And of course I dont live there, never said I did.

And in my last paragraph I literally said the areas where this wasnt the case are awesome. The areas that lean into the natural beauty of the state are still amazing.

I agree Manitou Springs is a ****** tourist trap town, but the weed culture has made it so much worse, and may be why their income is drying up, because tourists dont really like it. I only stayed there because I was told it was such an amazing place, and had not been their since I was in Highschool.

In just last month spent time at Lake City, and did the Alpine Loop, (ever done? you should). Absolutely Amazing. Gunnison, Buena Vista, Canon City, Durango, Creede.

Next month I will be back in Colorado, visiting Canon City area again, Colorado Springs area, (but avoiding Manitou) Estes Park, Frisco, Aspen, Leadville, Montrose, Ouray, Silverton, Durango, Grand Junction, with time at all 4 National Parks, and all areas in between.

Do you visit all those often?

Yeah, Colorado still has many amazing parts, And if you go back and actually look what I said.... some areas that the culture has been completely taken over by weed, are the problems. I looked at a 5 mile stretch of road and there were at least 15 dispensaries on that road, or directly adjacent to it, that area is what I am talking about.

Obviously I dont think CO is bad everywhere, and said exactly that.

So you assume Iowa ever will? It will be nationally legalized before it ever is in Iowa. And even if Iowa does, they will put insane rules in place like they did with Fireworks, and currently do with Medical weed.

If they want to go quick and easy, all beer will be sold in cans, now if they want to spend a little money, they will put taps in the concession stands and pour the beer into plastic cups. Only problem with that is changing out the kegs once they are empty.
I would guess it's going to be cans only, unless they set up alcohol only stations that would allow them to pour glasses of beer.

Perhaps the only significant improvement in football concessions in recent years has been the "pick up and pay" stand that has food sitting in warmers on one end and checkout stations at the other end. They still seem to struggle with payments, but at least it is a reasonable design.

And they run the lines in a back-and-forth pattern that is parallel to the concourse traffic. Having dozens of lines blocking the flow of traffic on the concourses is just ridiculous.

I believe I read alcohol will only be sold in "new" areas on north and south ends of the stadium. They are going to fence off the plaza areas and basically add them to the concourse. And possibly in a few pop up stands, but will not be sold on the main concourse concessions area.

I hate to compare ourselves to our foes out east but Kinnick is a larger stadium with worse infrastrature from a concourse standpoint and they make it work.
Yeah, but they pee in public. (Gotta save the toilet stalls for sex you know.)

But I thought this was impossible? And that’s why we’ve been pissing away this revenue source for years?

It has been a few years since I could attend a game at Jack, I had wondered if they ever adopted the snaking concept. The parallel line-ups vs. traffic flow should have been restructured decades ago.

They snake them back and forth now, walking through the cattle gates. Does free up the area around the stands but they don't at the restrooms so they are in the way for people walking through.
