Good episode. Quite frankly I was surprised how much love Joel got. He’s my favorite clone ever but I did not know he was as loved by some of the other fan base compared to Purdy hall and Montgomery. I do think Lazard deserves more however.

agree... Lazard deserves more love for sure. Iowa and ND went after him HARD... well after he committed to ISU too... and he kept telling them to go away.

Also sort of hate the whole, if it was 2026 back then they would had left after Rhoads was fired. Sort of disingenuous in my opinion, doesn’t matter what they could had done if the rules were in place it matters what they did do in real time. They stayed and cemented a legacy.

Mike Warren stands out to me. He he had an outstanding freshmen year, and then after a coaching change he found himself on the bench. He stuck it out and stayed, I thought he graduated ISU?

I view Jantz as "niche legend." The high points are spectacular, but had some dud games and moments. It didn't help there's was shuffling back and forth as starter between him and Barnett over those two seasons (plus a few games of Richardson at the end of 2012).
I don't consider stats when picking my favorites. Like you said, when he was on the field it was exciting. (good and bad)

I've heard some of the interviews that are referenced. They usually said that they "might" have left, not that they would have left, but when the stories are told, they become more about that they would have left.

Guess who else said they might have left if they had NIL back then…. Niang.
