What's he supposed to do? He didn't build this **** roster.

Bregman absolutely sucks and everyone knew the backend of Dansby's deal was going to be less than great at the plate.

He didn't tie up $75M in infielders that can't hit.

It's certainly hindsight, but wouldn't you rather have Shaw at 3rd and Schwarbs at DH? The Bregman and Schwarber contracts aren't that dissimilar, and Bregman was starting to show his decline already while Kyle has generally not.

Not giving the job to Shaw was a catastrophic mistake. His floor is league average bat with plus defense which is a 3 WAR player for the league minimum. For all this talk about 'intelligent spending', signing Bregman could not have been further from that.

This mess is an ownership, and front office problem. Probably the worst roster construction in entire MLB !
Pitching injuries happen, Cubs have had way more than they deserved, but the roster is a mess !!

Reminds me that you can’t be kinda pregnant. The Brewers know their identity and flourish. We half ass being big market and flounder.

We’re the Mets of the MW.

Jed just can't sign high level free agents. He can find some cheap guys with upside, and I pretty well trust him with prospects. But his track record on higher-profile free agents is atrocious.
Not sure if I can even say Jed has done ok with prospects. Haven't had too many of them become big time players in his tenure and some of the ones we have acquired in trades have fizzled out too. I know they can't all be hits but PCA was technically a Mets prospect that we were very fortunately to get in the Baez trade and the Mets sure't have seller's remorse giving him up in that deal. Brown is finally panning out. Horton was a guy we drafted and I hope he does not turn into the next Kerry Wood with his arm injuries. Wicks has been a huge bust as a first rounder. Shaw has some potential but is relegated to utility player now. Nico has been solid as one of our own picks.

I guess I see how the Cardinals just seem to re-load their farm system all the time with some quality guys while we tend to miss more than we hit on guys we draft or acquire in deals lately. We've been really bad about drafting and developing quality starting pitchers and that dates back to when Theo was in charge too.

I'm still pissed with what they did to Wicks. Drafted him as a near-ready college arm who had good, deceptive stuff and a plus plus changeup and then immediately tried to change everything about his arm slot and mix to chase velo (which made everything ineffective).

Just a shame.

Wicks was always a reach pick--hated it at the time, obviously hate it now.

Damn. Seiya gets hurt right as he’s started to heat up lately and been playing very good defense. Hope it’s not serious but didn’t look good
