Milan Momcilovic commits to Kentucky

maybe I missed someone already saying it, but at least the Money Milan shirts are still relevant to wear

I know it doesn’t help things but that’s why I don’t buy the player shirts.

Adios Milan. I was surprised he chose to play for the BYU of the SEC. In addition, he just watched Kentucky quit in the Round of 32 game. I get the 6 million, and the spread offense that Mark Pope loves to run being a great fit for Milan's skill set. Milan did not sit at the end of some tight games this past season because of his shooting. Milan needs to improve his defense for the next level.

ISU won't see kentucky next year. Milan gave us a lot of wins and a lot of great memories. You're a pathetic fan if you wish him ill will
This is clearly a bit. Good work, I did fall for it

We rarely played UK or Duke or most blue bloods in the past , yet it’s still been fun to wish ill to them

Nothing personal, just how sports have always worked, and always will

Why would you cheer for someone who doesn’t want to be here?

I think Milan was a great player but I have maybe one specific memory of him that will stick. I guess I don’t care that he hit 8 3’s in a game we lost.
You're making up the narrative that he "doesnt want to be here." His goal was always the NBA and when he got feedback that he wouldn't be drafted where he wanted to be drafted at or make the money he'd prolly make, he decided its best to come back to college and make life changing money, then most likely try again next year, or with the new 5 for 5...make more life changing money, then play wherever while being set for life.

Anyone who's mad at him for making this decision can go kick rocks in flip flops

The NBA told him he wasn’t good enough, can’t blame him for taking the money but I suspect he won’t have as much fun at Kentucky when they go 20-13 and lose in the 2nd round of the tourney. That fan base also won’t be patient with off games the way Iowa state was. Wishing him the best but I genuinely don’t think Kentucky is a good fit outside of collecting a massive check.

When you look at things impartially, Campbell was pretty overrated in the end. A good HC. Not a great HC. He had 10 years to finally get this program over the hump and couldn't do it. I'll never get over having a team with three NFL starters including an MVP-level QB and he couldn't manage more than 7 wins. Change is good.

I don't know that I'm ready to call campbell overrated here as he did more than anyone else has, but at the same time no other coach has had more resources and a better environment since his tenure coincided with the big 12 making a lot more money and the stadium finally being big 12 ready (which technically finished for rhoads I guess but the wheels were already off that era when that finished).

Campbell, Milan, and Audi are all getting life changing money, but they all will have to meet what I'd consider unrealistic expectations. Don't blame any of them for getting the $ while they can, but I'm guessing all three will miss the true enjoyment of the game that they had back in Ames.
They all are still doing what they love and are making a lot more doing it.

I suspect they will still find lots of enjoyment.

You might be right, but I'm guessing not. Just wait until Audi or Milan has a less than outstanding game, the hate from the Kentucky/Okie State fan websites will be so awful they'll long for all the adulation they received back in Ames. Same is true for Campbell when he loses a game Penn State fans expect him to win.

Not saying any of them will regret jumping ship at all. Just saying they're gonna learn quickly the best thing about Iowa State was the fan base and the support from above.

They’d all get that here. Perhaps with slightly less fervor, but more than enough when you’re on receiving end, and with a lot less money as compensation

Insane cope. Good work.

Campbell wasn’t exactly doing it for free. These coaches long ago stopped GAF about fan-think.

I doubt Milan will have any regrets getting paid $6 million to play at a blue blood, while in a cushier role
Coping???

Never said Milan, Audi, or Campbell will regret getting jumping ship for the enormous paychecks. Just saying they're gonna find out quickly how nice it was playing for Iowa State fans where the expectations weren't massive and the love was pretty much unconditional.

Let's agree to reconvene a year from now and see who was right.

They’ve already adjudicated it. The “unconditional” love wasn’t worth the huge discount they’d need to take

They’re FAR more informed on what athletes go through, the cost benefit of these decisions, than we are

I get the urge to cope with thinking we know better than them, that they didn’t correctly make the best decision for their net utility. They didn’t accurately weigh the downsides of leaving.

Cope. There will likely be aspects about leaving they miss (not same as regret). Most of them they already know, like personal relationships (not playing for TJ)

I mean, even if the experience sucks next year it's a 1 year deal and he walks away several million richer. People have done a lot shittier jobs for less

Football was pretty miserable considering they returned almost everything from a team that “played” for a conference title and then proceeded to lose to Colorado, Cincinnati, and a team quarterbacked by Jeff Sims
That’s why losing Campbell might not be the worst thing in the world. It’s highly probable that next season is another ho hum 8-4 season with him and the players back but if JR goes 6-6 we’ll all be excited about the future.

They haven't yet experienced the crazy unrealistic expectations that accompany massive paychecks, so they've hardly "adjudicated it".

Like I've said a couple of times already, no matter how awful the pressure of living up to those expectations may be, they may always feel the massive paychecks make it worthwhile.

They’re undoubtedly more informed on the adjudication than anyone else

No one is better able to gauge whether it’s worth staying at ISU for what you think is unconditional love. They know what they’re leaving infinitely better than anyone. And they may not have played at UK, but they know more about that than any of us.

Maybe they DGAF about fan noise when they’re seniors, and had been trying to become professional.

I think you could be right about Campbell, especially if they don't do well with the softer schedule this year.
He is bound to that place for a long time.

I think for the other 2 its 1 year, You ignore X and tik tok, etc you can find lots of peace. Most of the biggest tools reside there.

Kentucky, most the heat there is gonna be on Pope. I will say that Kentucky roster has a bit of KSU circa 2024-2025.. They are going to need to score 120 cuz they will give up 110. Interesting mix of players for sure.
