Pop Songs about Iowa/Iowa Towns

Damn Yankees--Piledriver

I was cruizin' backstage in Des Moines, Iowa
And a little girl comes up next to me and says
"Mr. Nugent do you think my skirt is short enough?"
I said, "Baby, you want to be alive you've got to piledrive!

There is only one city named Cedar Rapids in the United States — Cedar Rapids, Iowa and it's in this song:

John Prine - Taking A Walk

Yeah, but the girl from Cedar Rapids is now residing in Iowa Falls . . . .

The Iowa connection in 'Til Tuesday's "Coming Up Close" stems directly from the song's opening lyrics: "One night in Iowa / He and I in a borrowed car / Went driving in the summer / Promises in every star." [1]
Aimee Mann, who wrote the track, has explained that the song was inspired by a romantic epiphany she experienced while driving through the cornfields of Iowa with a friend while listening to a tape of Bob Dylan. The memory of that summer road trip served as the creative foundation for the song's nostalgic and bittersweet
Aimee Mann is so ******* good.

If we’re going to use references, there is this:

“Evelyn's kiss was oxygen
I leaned over to take it in
As we went howling through the edge of south Des Moines
It came over me at a bad time
She burned over the double line
She impaled as I reached my hand for the guardrail”

No, It's a Fort Dodge Song. Kokotho is nowhere to be found unless the local radio station is curating it.
Last I know (probably 1990’s?) the radio station in Ft. Dodge, 94.5, played this song. Otho used to have a recording studio (my mind is a little fuzzy on this?) and that was where the song Kokotho was born and recorded?

I welcome other CF’ers who might be more knowledgeable on this topic to correct my info.
