Milan Momcilovic tweets "entering NBA draft and portal"

About 48 more hours and this thread can be put to rest

Are you new here? This thread is still getting started. Once he makes his decision everyone will have to weigh in. Some people will be mad. Some people will be sad. Some people will ***** about the people that have different opinions than they do. Some people will think he made the worst choice possible. Some people will say that he seriously considered coming back to Iowa State despite every sign otherwise.

I predict the thread will increase by 15 pages in a day once he announces his decision.

If I am Milan, I am not sure I want to go someplace like Kentucky where there a bunch of "me me me" players and a okay but not good or great coach - and then try to build on the year he just had at ISU.

If he comes back and it isn't ISU it better be someplace like St Johns, UCONN (gag) or Duke where the coach actually knows how to build a team and develop talent.

Even then, the likelihood of him putting up a year that raises his stock over what he did this year is pretty low - and that is not a knock on Milan - he was just setup perfectly this year with the type of talent and system he had to play in.
I don't think he goes to Kentucky just because it seems like a bit of a **** show right now. He's not comng back to ISU, not sure why our fans are wasting energy at that possibility.

The "high stock" line of thought is probably the most convincing to me, but I stil think he ultimately takes a paycheck, especially given he can play two more seasons. But the "he wants to move on and play in the NBA" seems more hopeful than rooted in fact.

Ignoring my ISU fandom and bias, playing at Duke or another blue blood who has their **** together and can pay you big bucks would be my choice if I was Milan. It just feels too risky to take a chance in the draft given his current stock with NBA scouts. Hopefully he goes nuclear at a workout like Green, and finds a similar path. It would be really tough to watch him playing in the Final Four at Duke.

It's weird how there was a time in my life when I'd be obsessing over where Milan is going to end up. However, since I know he's not coming back to ISU, I don't give a rip where he goes.

I'm no longer a fan of his. Not butt hurt, just no longer a fan. Too many other things in my life to obsess over.
Same. Is this just a symptom of NIL. At this point I don't really have any deep rooting interest in players and could care less what they do unless they end their career at ISU.

If Milan comes back to college this season, won’t he have made at least $10 million in his college career?

He should really never have to work another day in his life. I wish I had his “problems” when I graduated from college.

He really can’t go wrong honestly.

Are there foods you have never tasted....and won't? That's Florida to me. Overdeveloped, sicker politics than most states, and the worse heat and humidity than North Carolina coast where I used to spend time. Sounds like Arkansas with a coastline. Texas has the infamy of being the only state I've had a gun pulled on me. Florida is better?

'Why is there a gator in MY pool!?'

Many of the mock drafts have Milan going between 35-40 and Jefferson going late first to early second. I hope Milan's shooting will get him drafted and with a team team to give him a chance. I love the Bulls but hope they do not draft any Cyclones as they are far from competing. I hope the Pacers can trade for a 2nd round pick to help out Haliburton or get a great free agent!

$10 million after taxes and agents…not a bad roll.

TBH I don’t see another year really making any major difference in MM game.

It does sound like next year will be a thinner class…BUT that’s could change if freshman blow up.

And his stock may fall next year. In Milan’s final 11 games, he shot 37/86 (43.0%). Which is still very, very good. But it is very different than 50%. 7 percentage points in basketball is quite a bit.

So will Milan’s draft stock be high next season if he shoots 43%?

He could be a part time starter and shoot 50% and do well. Take some pounding off his body and be better suited for the future.
Iowa State or Duke

You don’t think Milan can improve as a player? He’s a finished product?

Returning wouldn’t be about getting drafted higher next year, although it technically possible.

If he returns, it’s because he’s getting feedback he’ll basically have the same opportunity to prove himself next year (late second round or two-way).

If he returns, he’s getting feedback that waiting a year will earn him more than multiple years in NBA, plus give him time to better prepare for his opportunity (late second or two way)

Returning in some ways is also betting on himself, just while making more money next year

I think it simply comes down to how certain he is he'll land in the late first or early enough in the second to get a guaranteed contract under the second round exception. If he gets feedback from teams that this is going to happen if he's available at that time, then I think he goes.

Essentially that means making maybe $5M over two years guaranteed, and barring injury or something weird, being on an NBA roster in 2026.

If he goes back to school, he'll make more money next year than he probably will in both years in the NBA if he gets a guaranteed contract. But going back to school obviously pushes back that NBA roster spot by at least one year, and if he's on a two-way contract, then the odds go down and it gets pushed back even further.

His problem is the weaknesses and limitations are mostly athleticism. He can improve, but for a guy that age that's been in a good program for three years, and isn't overweight or anything like that, those improvements are slow and incremental. A college getting him for a one year rental, with a season that starts in 6 months probably isn't going to invest much in Milan putting in a ton of work and time to get marginally more athletic.

So he'd go back to school, get a year older, have a difficult time addressing his major weakness in a significant way, and he just had a historic shooting year.

I still think if he's certain he's getting a guaranteed second round deal, he's going to the league. He's leaving money on the table probably, but it gets him to his dream in a matter of months.
